An Army Recruit is a person who enlists for General Service in the Defence Forces and on completion of the initial training program is promoted to Private 2*. Information About Army General Service Recruits The Defence Forces is looking for people who are looking for a challenging and physically demanding career in the military. Applicants should have: The ability to work in disciplined military environment.The ability to work with others in a team.Work well in a high pressure and physically demanding environmentBe willing to serve abroad for extended periods of time. On qualification recruits take up a position as a three star private in one of the following Service Corps — Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, Transport or Communications Information Systems. Qualifications No formal education qualifications are required to join the Defence Forces as a recruit. However, you must satisfy the Interview Board and the Recruiting Officer that you possess a sufficient standard of education for service in the Defence Forces. Age Limitations Applicants must be 18 years of age and under 39 years of age on the date deemed as the closing date for applications. Induction Recruit Competitions are held in each Brigade of the Army as required and are the only way to join the Defence Forces to become a Private Soldier. Candidates undergo fitness testing, psychometric testing, an interview and a medical exam. In conjunction with this all candidates will be security vetted by An Garda Síochana. Candidates must also provide two referee`s as part of the security vetting process. Candidates will be required to pass both the medical examination and security vetting to be considered for induction. The Induction Process will determine if you have the potential to become a Private Soldier in the Army. Naval Service applicants must be at least 18 years old and under the age of 39 years of age on the closing date for applications. What is a Naval Service Recruit A Naval Service Recruit enlists for General Service in the Other Ranks of the Defence Forces. After successfully completing the initial Recruit Training course a recruit passes out as an Ordinary Seaman and will then go onto their Branch Training Course before becoming qualified as an Able Body sailor in the Naval Service. Who we want Naval Service Recruits go on to form the backbone of the Irish Naval Service. Recruit training is 22 weeks in duration and is designed to develop a physically fit, disciplined and motivated person using basic military and naval skills in order to prepare them for further training in the Service. Recruits are instilled with the Naval Service ethos and the values of Courage, Respect, Integrity and Loyalty. On successful completion of the Recruit training, the Recruit is advanced to the training rank of Ordinary Rating (equivalent of 2 Star Private in the Army). The Naval Service has four Branches consisting of Seaman's, Communications, Mechanicians and Supplies. The Ordinary Rate commences their chosen Branch training giving them the specialised skills required to fulfil their role at sea and ashore. After this initial specialisation training, the Ordinary Rate will proceed to sea and take up an appointment onboard one of our ships for a two year rotation. Life at sea is at all times varied. The Ordinary Rate regardless of Branch is a much valued member of the ships crew. As well as Branch duties, he/she will be called on to complete other duties such as general maintenance, boat work, Damage Control/Firefighting. He/she may also be a member of a Naval Boarding team during Drug Interdiction Operations. If you are interested in a life at sea, as part of a dynamic, professional and highly motivated team, then the Naval Service is for you. Currently, approximately 30k staff work within the HSE Dublin and Midlands Region providing key health and social care services with a budget of €3 billion. The region has 4 Integrated Health Areas, serving a population of around 300,000 and take account of local geographies, population size, needs and services. The IHA areas are HSE Dublin South City and West, HSE Dublin South West, HSE Kildare and West Wicklow and HSE Midlands and the Integrated Healthcare Managers are in post since October 2024. IHAs bring together both acute and community services as well as other non-HSE providers and are crucial to supporting and enabling integrated care. Within the 4 Integrated Health Areas there are 9 acute hospital (model 4s and 3s, mix of statutory and voluntary providers) delivering a full range of acute hospital, women and children’s services, in addition to specialised radiation and oncology care. There are also 6 integrated care hubs/csts and 20 Community Health Networks who together will serve the population health needs of our area. The reform programme for HSE Dublin and Midlands provides an opportunity to shape the future of health and social care in a rapidly changing environment and to continue to implement safer better health care through integrated services. Health Regions will be the primary service coordination and delivery units for the vast majority of health and social care services provided across Ireland. Consultant Paediatrician Special Interested Peri-operative Care

Purpose of role: The Part time Consultant Paediatrician role at NOHC is to provide acute care for children with general and complex presentations needing surgical intervention. They will also assist in the development of a peri-operative service in NOHC. In the interim they will partake on the general paediatric on call rota in NOHC. They will also partake in acute and out-patient General Paediatrics work in CHI. The post holder(s) will liaise between NOHC and CHI to ensure appropriate governance, patient selection, staff training, review and development of protocols, quality assurance and an on-call commitment to paediatric inpatients. Expected sessions on site in Cappagh would include attendance at the 3 weekly pre and post operative conference, attendance at quarterly QI conference and attendance at appropriate committee meetings. The post holders would be expected to do 1 to 2 ward rounds per week. The on-call commitment will cover a ward of 13 beds in total, with a normal maximum of about 5-6 inpatients overnight currently. These are all preselected, low medical complexity orthopaedic cases who have been pre-assessed. Most are single overnight stays for analgesia with 4-5 days at the upper range for limb deformity cases and scoliosis. The ward is staffed by experienced, fully trained paediatric nurses and NCHD cover is currently provided by an in-house orthopaedic registrar from CHI. Eligibility Criteria Mandatory Professional Qualifications and Experience: a) Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of General Paediatrics And b) Two years certified postgraduate training in paediatric medicine “The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland, within 180 days of the day of interview and before taking up appointment. In exceptional circumstances proleptic appointments may be considered for candidates engaged in relevant training programmes. The Consultant must, at all times while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Documentary evidence of Medical Council Registration is required and must be produced annually to the Medical Administration Department within the Children’s Health Ireland. Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate.
