Music Generation Resource Worker PERSON SPECIFICATION & JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Music Generation Resource Worker Capacity: 1 year post (may be extended beyond one year subject to future funding) Reporting to: Director of Further Education and Training (FET)/Adult Education Officer (AEO)/Music Generation Development Officer The Position: Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB), on behalf of Music Generation Galway City, County and Roscommon, wishes to employ a Resource Worker to assist the Music Generation Development Officer(s) with the organisation, promotion, and day-to-day running and delivery of Music Generation performance music education programmes in Galway and Roscommon. Music Generation is a performance music education programme in Galway City, County and Roscommon providing access to a range of vocal and instrumental music opportunities for children and young people in their local area. Initiated by Music Network, Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills, and Local Music Education Partnerships (LMEPs). Locally, Music Generation in Galway City, County and Roscommon is supported by a range of local partners including City and County Councils, Local Development Programmes, Foroige, Youth Work Ireland, TUSLA. Initial Duties and Responsibilities Duties shall include, but are not limited to: PERFORMANCE MUSIC EDUCATION Conditions of Service Term of Appointment This post is a fixed term 1 year position and a panel may be formed for further positions that may arise in a temporary or permanent capacity.  The contract may be extended beyond one year and any such extension would be subject to confirmation of future funding. Garda Vetting Garda Vetting will be sought in accordance with the National Vetting Bureau Act, 2014 and there being no disclosure of convictions which GRETB considers would render the candidate unsuitable to work with children/vulnerable adults. This process will commence prior to appointment. Location The role of Music Generation GRETB Resource Worker will be primarily based in Galway City for the resource and developmental work. Locations for performance music education work may vary depending on programmes. Salary Salary Resource Scale (pro-rata per annum) for new entrants €35,534 - €64,852 or for pre 1/1/11 entrants - €38,491 - €64,852. As per DES guidelines, new appointees who are entering this grade for the first time will start at the minimum point of the scale, however incremental credit may apply, if, immediately prior to appointment the appointee is already a serving Civil or Public Servant. Rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Starting salary is not subject to negotiation. Hours of work A 35-hour week is in operation. Attendance will be required during normal ETB office hours and at such other times as are necessary for the delivery of the duties of the post. Attendance outside of normal office hours will be by prior agreement with the Music Development Officer as will the offsetting of such attendance against normal office hours' attendance. Hours may be adjusted from time to time under relevant Public Sector Agreements. Annual Leave The annual leave entitlement for this post is 35 days calculated on a pro-rata basis. Recruitment Selection shall be by means of a competition based on an interview conducted by or on behalf of GRETB.  A shortlisting process may operate depending on the volume of applications. The Role: The key purpose of this role is to assist in fulfilling WSI’s mission of education and lifesaving activities by assisting in the management of the physical office and assets. While reporting to the Financial and Office Manager, The Executive Officer will also be called upon to manage projects, oversee other team members, and assist other team members and council members from time to time. This role requires the EO to work independently and proactively, demonstrating Initiative, ownership and follow through of all tasks within their responsibility. Experience in collation of data for reports to various functions and management of databases would be a distinct advantage. Experience in pensions reporting and SAGE would also be advantageous. This role is based in the Galway Office. We are currently operating a blended working structure, with a minimum of 2 days in the office each week, but more as required by business needs. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Terms of Appointment Appointment is subject to a six-month probationary period. If at any-time during this period, it appears that the appointee would not be suitable for final appointment the probation will be terminated. Reporting Structure The Senior Office Administrator will report to the Office Manager, and will manage the Office Administrator. Location WSI has a Hybrid Working Policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the office, possibly more depending on business needs. Tenure: The role is offered on an initial three year fixed term contract. Remuneration: €36,044-€58,834 This appointment will be made on the Executive Officer scale in line with current Government pay policy.
