Details of Service The Disability Services Department provides a range of services, within available resources, to people with intellectual and physical & sensory disabilities. Individuals, in addition to accessing generic health services, may also access specialist disability services provided by external Agencies which are funded by HSE. The Disability Services Department works with and in conjunction with all other relevant Departments. Encompasses Intellectual Disability, Physical & Sensory Services, Autism Services and Training & Employment Services for persons with a disability. · People with disabilities with care needs must be provided with a continuum of services such as home care, day care and intermediate residential care to avoid unnecessary acute hospital admissions and have their required treatments & supports delivered within their local community at primary care level in as far as possible. · These types of services must be responsive to service user needs and be provided flexibly at the least possible unit cost to build a sustainable system into to the future.
