Youth Advocates – Fixed Purpose Contracts – Person Spec and Job Description The Youth Advocate reports to a Team Leader. This post requires working within the YAP strengths-based model, to provide 1:1 support for vulnerable young people and their families and to support them in their home and local communities so that they can achieve their goals. YAP Ireland provides a strengths-based, needs led service for 6-12 months to children, young people and families who are struggling with a range of issues in their lives. You will work intensively with them to achieve positive change and meet their goals. Responsibilities and Tasks: 1. To deliver a 1:1 service to young people and families under the supervision and support of the Team Leader. 2. Together with the Team Leader to build a positive, supportive working relationship with the young person and their family using the YAP strengths-based model to help them achieve their goals. 3. Together with the Team Leader, to develop a plan of work (Individualised Service Plan) to focus on the abilities, strengths and needs of the young person and their families. 4. To carry out day to day work with the young person and family, addressing their needs as outlined in the ISP. This may involve supporting the young person to participate in appropriate education, accessing appropriate services or finding community activities to link the young person into. 5. To promote, enable and empower the young person and families voice to be heard and ensure they have a voice in their service/life/community. This includes activity groups, participation and consultation groups. 6.Together with the Team Leader, to adopt a Wraparound approach that will bring together those key people and services who can offer support to the young person and family during and after the YAP Service. 7. To identify and evaluate the changing needs and interests of the child/young person as the relationship progresses and to adapt the service accordingly. 8. To understand the Health and Safety policies required for all activities with young people including any specific medical history, medications and specific special needs and/or diagnosis. 9. Carpentry and Joinery Apprentce
The Trade of Carpentry & Joinery is very wide and varied, it encompasses most of the skills required by the Wood Trades. These skills required of the Carpenter & Joiner are not confined to those required to work in wood but include skills in the use of metals, plastics and fabrics. The Carpenter & Joiner is also required to work in a cross section of domains within the overall trade. The following are some examples: Joinery Shop: This section of the occupation requires the Carpenter & Joiner to engage in setting out, production and assembling items of joinery which include stairs, doors, windows and built-in furniture. Site Work: Site work is the construction of buildings or houses which require 1st fixing, formwork roofs and 2nd fixing. This section is split into two categories, constructing/civil engineering contracts. Maintenance: Maintenance work requires the Carpenter & Joiner to carry out a variety of tasks in general maintenance and upkeep of public and private buildings, e.g. shops and factories. There are other areas associated with the trade which include: renovating buildings, shopfitting, exhibition/display work. School Transport Bus Escort
This job description is intended as a guide to the general range of duties and is intended to be neither definitive nor restrictive. It will be reviewed from time to time in accordance with the evolution of the role of School Transport Escort. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TRANSPORT (BUS/TAXI) ESCORT The Transport Escort: • Must ensure that they are on the bus/in the taxi at time of first pick-up and last set down. • Is responsible for the safety of children when opening and closing doors prior to ‘stop’ and ‘move off.’ • Assists the child/children to board and alight safely from the school bus/taxi. • Ensures all children are seated with appropriate straps, harnesses where provided, before the bus/taxi moves off. • Ensures that each pupil is received by a responsible person at their pickup and set down points. DUTIES OF TRANSPORT (BUS/TAXI) ESCORT Will include: • Supervision of children travelling on the bus/taxi. • Maintain a good working relationship with the driver of the bus/taxi. • Act as liaison between Principal and/or Class Teacher and parents when required, i.e., conveyance of messages and letter to parents. • Observe CMETBs confidentiality policies in all aspects of their work. • Being aware of particular disabilities of children in the bus/taxi and be briefed by the principal on how to deal with same, e.g., epilepsy etc. • Perform any other duties relevant to the position of transport escort which may be assigned by the principal from time to time. • Unless under exceptional circumstances, the transport escort should never leave the bus/taxi while children are onboard. • The escort’s position on the bus/taxi should be where maximum control of children is achieved, i.e., at back of bus/taxi. • Report all concerns to the principal and/or class teacher. RATE OF PAY €15.98 per hour plus 8% holiday pay. Holiday pay is paid yearly in arrears at Easter, in Summer and in December.
