This role is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. This role has a start date in April and the contract will be for minimum 1 year. This contract is based on a 5 day over 7 working weeks. Residential Support Worker

We are recruiting for the position of Residential Support Worker to provide support to adults with intellectual disabilities who live in a residential setting in L’Arche Cork. This position is for a four month fixed term contract, 39 hours per week. These hours will be mainly worked between 9am and 9pm Monday – Friday with approximately 1 weekend a month. The successful candidate must be committed to providing the highest standard of services in support of adults to live fulfilling and inclusive lives, according to their choices. In order to meet the needs of the residents, the role will require a high level of flexibility. The following are the desirable characteristics/experiences for the person filling this position. That they: · Have experience in working with adults with an intellectual disability · Have a social care/healthcare qualification or in the process of obtaining one · Be Person Centred in approach and attitude. · High standard of English—both verbally and in writing · Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, organisational and initiative skills. · Understanding of Advocacy and Human Rights. · Knowledge of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities. · A good understanding of HIQA requirements and of the National Standards for Residential Services for Adults with Disabilities is essential · Demonstrate sound knowledge of social model practice in support of adults; · Role subject to Garda vetting, verification of qualifications and satisfactory references. · A full clean driving license is desirable for this position.
