Census Field Supervisors
About this Role You will be responsible for the work of 4-12 Field Support Officers and for the successful conduct of the enumeration of the 2027 Census of Population in an assigned work area. Reports to: Census Regional Supervisor Manages: The work of 4 to 12 Field Support Officers Location of Post The commitment for this post will be from 18th January 2027 to 11th June 2027, with 41.15 hours gross or 35 hours net per week. The officer’s headquarters will be such as may be designated from time to time by the Director General of the Central Statistics Office. For the time being the Director General has designated the officer’s home as headquarters. An Office Accommodation Allowance of €12.77 gross per week worked is payable as a lump sum at the end of the contract term for the provision of this facility. This payment may be made once the following criteria are met: • The officer must provide secure and confidential storage in their headquarters for all census material and equipment • Only persons who are Officers of Statistics for census purposes may have access to this material, including the laptop computer • The accommodation and other facilities provided by the officer are suitable from the point of view of the safety of the official property being stored and the satisfactory conduct of official business. When absent from home/headquarters on duty, the officer will be paid appropriate travelling expenses and subsistence allowances subject to the normal Civil Service regulations. Principal Duties The Census Field Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the effective and accurate completion of the census enumeration within their assigned work area. The Census Field Supervisor will oversee 4 to 12 Field Support Officers and report to the Census Regional Supervisor. Key Responsibilities include: • Attending training days - become thoroughly familiar with all enumeration procedures and digital systems. • Using a laptop - track applicants during the recruitment phase; to access daily reports on Field Support Officers progress; and for communication. • Proficiency with the Smartphone Application - used to record interactions with households. • Recruitment of Field Support Officers - learning best-practice interview skills; interviewing candidates; and assisting with appointing Field Support Officers. • A comprehensive understanding of Census Field Supervisor & Field Support Officer Manuals – this enables the capability to train Field Support Officers. • Facilitate the sourcing of venues - for Field Support Officer interviews and training. • Training of the Field Support Officers - how to use the smartphone application to record household’s interactions; answer citizen questions regarding the 2027 Census; use maps to locate their work areas; and follow up with non-participating households. • Supervision of Field Support Officers – managing quality assurance for team performance, ensuring that this is completed for all Field Support Officers in the designated time frame; supporting Field Support Officers as needed and reassigning work as required; reporting on enumeration progress; completing daily reporting tasks on the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system; completing probation, contract and expense claims for your team; reporting disciplinary issues; and monitoring team hours worked. • Live field responsibilities - actioning escalations from the field; monitoring dashboards; acting and reporting on non-performing areas; managing uncooperative households; advancing all cases/household toward a completed status; promoting Census 2027 with publicity materials; and submitting final payments for Field Support Officers. • Secure storage of census material at home – this includes the use of laptop for Census work only; ensuring the use of the laptop for CRM should not take place outside of the home, e.g. coffee shops etc; and the storage of crates and forms, that are to be issued to Field Support Officer’s then collected back at the end of the census The above job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently, the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to them from time to time. Remuneration Pay: For the position of Census Field Supervisor, the rate of pay will be €38,803 annual equivalent. Where the appointee is 70 years of age or over, the rate of pay will be €37,211 annual equivalent, non-PPC aligned. Payment will be made as a double week on the Friday of the second week and then weekly after that. This payment is paid by Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) into a bank account of the officer’s choice. Payment cannot be made until the officer supplies IBAN/BIC details to the Census Recruitment Section. The CSO will validate your bank details through a third party. Atypical Work Allowance: It is envisaged that during the course of the census enumeration that Census Field Supervisors will be required to work outside normal hours in order to support their team of Census Field Support Officers during the busiest time of the delivery and collection stage of the census. Furthermore, Census Field Supervisors will be required to provide cover for colleagues in adjacent areas during temporary periods of absence due to annual leave, sick leave or other unavoidable absences. In recognition of this atypical work situation an additional once off allowance of €687.91 will be paid, (or on a pro-rata basis if applicable). This payment is in the nature of pay and is reckonable for pension purposes. Once the conditions for this payment are met, the payment will be made on a lump sum basis at the end of the contract period. Staff in receipt of this payment will be required to give full flexibility with regard to their attendance as the requirements of the job dictate, and with particular reference to the peaks and troughs that can be expected over the period of the contract given the nature of the census operation.

Multi-task Attendant
Remuneration The salary scale for the post (as at 01/06/2026) is: €36,651 – €38,130 – €39,687 – €40,101 – €41,118 – €41,998 – €43,264 – €44,577 – €45,939 New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies. Purpose of the Post The Multi-Task Attendant will be responsible for the cleaning of the environment of the hospital. They will perform catering duties within wards and departments throughout the hospital, as well as patient care as directed by the Clinical Nurse Manager / Nurse in Charge. Principal Duties and Responsibilities General Cleaning • Responsible for the general cleaning of the hospital and areas as identified by the Ward Manager. • Ensure the agreed standard of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in all areas by using the approved cleaning materials. • Use and care of cleaning equipment as trained. • Be responsible for the segregation and safe disposable of waste to designated areas. • Perform daily or evening cleaning of ward areas, bathrooms, toilets, walls, floors, corridors, beds patient equipment and household and clinical waste bins. • Perform daily or evening deep clean /isolation cleaning of assigned areas by manual cleaning and machine cleaning. • Complete Cleaning Checklists as cleaning is carried out. • Ensure all cleaning documentation is kept up to date and available for inspection e.g. ward cleaning checks, bed cleaning programme. • Ensure ward cleaning supplies are used economically and replenished. • Ensure patient’s property is respected at all times. • Report any equipment faults to person in charge. • Check and clean specified equipment and ensure instructions are followed during operation and maintenance. • To use designated cleaning products with caution, following guidelines appropriate to their use and ensuring all cleaning materials are used economically. Products will be kept in a locked cupboard/ room when not in use. These supplies should be monitored to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained. • Immediate attention to be given to all spillage’s including tea, coffee, water, urine, faeces, vomit etc in order to reduce the risk of accidents. • Use of floor scrubber and buffering of designated floor areas on the units. • Adherence to Health and Safety Guidelines and the use of hazard signs. Patient Care • Nursing staff will delegate patient care duties in accordance with their professional judgement and within the competence of the Multi-Task Attendant. • Patients/clients may require assistance in some or all activities of daily living. It is the duty of the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care required by the patient. The primary role of the Multi-Task Attendant is to assist the nurse in the implementation of the care, as determined by the Registered Nurse. • The transporting of patients from the ward and various departments, either in beds, on trolleys, in wheelchairs or walking. • When necessary to remain with patients in these areas and to assist patients. • Communicate any observations on the patients to the nursing staff. • Answer patient call bells when nursing staff are busy. • To assist nursing staff with moving and handling of patients. • To assist patients with their personal care, toileting and bathing as requested by the patient or nursing staff. • To assist with the preparation of patients for surgery as instructed by the ward manager. • Transfer of equipment as required. • To be aware of safety issues pertaining to patients and colleagues. • To adhere to Infection Control Guidelines. • To adhere to Hospital Guidelines. • Participating in the social and activity programmes in the Care of the Elderly setting. • Refer all queries to the nurse in charge. • Report any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of patients, staff or visitors and take appropriate action. • Multi-Task Attendants should conduct themselves in a manner that conveys respect of the individual and ensures safe patient care, including confidentiality, courtesy, accountability, communication, dignity, privacy, health and safety. Catering Duties • Assist with patient preparation for mealtimes i.e. patient’s are made comfortable and prepare bed table area for tray service. • Distribute jugs of water / ice and glasses to the patient’s morning and evening and as required. • Distribute, input details and collect menu cards from the patients daily. • Assist with increasing awareness of Protected Mealtimes and the National Visitors Guidelines. • Record patients’ dietary requirements on summary sheet for main kitchen. • Ensure that bed tables are cleaned prior to and after food service. • Assist patients with feeding at mealtimes in consultation with CMN or Nurse in charge at mealtimes and monitor food intake. Record/ report as required. • Assist with the preparation and presentation of food, make beverages, snacks, sandwiches, etc. as required and serve. • Liaise with CNM / Dietician on patient requirements. • Collect food trolleys and ensure trays / trolleys are prepared for meal service in accordance with best practice for patients. • Ensure appropriate serving utensils are used at all mealtimes in line with best practice. • Carry out and record food temperature checks before serving to the patient at mealtimes and record on temperature chart in ward pantries. • Record fridge temperature morning and evening and document, report any variances and take action. • Order / record food stock levels for patients from the main kitchen stores to ward pantries. • Ensure ward pantry and equipment i.e. microwave, toaster etc are cleaned in line with cleaning manual and pantry cleaning checklist is signed off. • Ensure that after each food service, catering trolley is cleaned down in the main wash up area and set up for next meal service. • Ensure segregation of food waste and paper at ward pantry in line with food waste and waste segregation procedures. • Report and label equipment breakdowns, and fill in appropriate requisition form with CNM Nurse in Charge on the ward / department. • Adhere to Hospital Catering and Hygiene policies. • Protective clothing to be worn while on duty. • Acquaint themselves with a knowledge of Health & Safety / Food Hygiene legislation. • Ensure work practice is in line with all hygiene and Health and Safety procedures, including HACCP guidelines. Waste & Laundry • Laundry bags not to be overfilled. • Appropriate procedure and guidelines to be followed for infected laundry. • Bags to be stored in the designated areas. • Clean laundry to be stored in the appropriate place. • Linen rooms to be kept clean and tidy at all times and linen trolleys prepared for bed making. • Collecting and tagging of household and clinical waste accumulated during the day and removal to designated areas. • Maintain safe work practices. • To handle domestic waste and clinical waste and ensure correct disposal to prevent cross infection. • Universal precautions to be taken with the handling and disposal of clinical waste. The Role The role of Policy Analyst / Economist in the Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service is an important one, and the work will be varied and challenging. It is a condition of the Collective Agreement that persons availing of the agreement will not be eligible for re-employment in the Public Service by any Public Service body (as defined by the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Acts 2009 – 2011) for a period of 2 years from termination of the employment. People who availed of this scheme and who may be successful in this competition will have to prove their eligibility (expiry of period of non-eligibility). Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement (ISER) It is a condition of the Incentivised Scheme for Early Retirement (ISER) as set out in Department of Finance Circular 12/09 that retirees, under that Scheme, are not eligible to apply for another position in the same employment or the same sector. Therefore, such retirees may not apply for this position. Department of Health and Children Circular (7/2010) The Department of Health Circular 7/2010 dated 1 November 2010 introduced a Targeted Voluntary Early Retirement (VER) Scheme and Voluntary Redundancy Schemes (VRS). It is a condition of the VER scheme that persons availing of the scheme will not be eligible for re-employment in the public health sector or in the wider Public Service or in a body wholly or mainly funded from public moneys. The same prohibition on re-employment applies under the VRS, except that the prohibition is for a period of 7 years. People who availed of the VER scheme are not eligible to compete in this competition. People who availed of the VRS scheme and who may be successful in this competition will have to prove their eligibility (expiry of period of non-eligibility). Department of Environment, Community & Local Government (Circular Letter LG(P) 06/2013) The Department of Environment, Community & Local Government Circular Letter LG(P) 06/2013 introduced a Voluntary Redundancy Scheme for Local Authorities. In accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement: Redundancy Payments to Public Servants dated 28 June 2012 as detailed above, it is a specific condition of that VER Scheme that persons will not be eligible for reemployment in any Public Service body [as defined by the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Acts 2009 – 2011 and the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012] for a period of 2 years from their date of departure under this Scheme. These conditions also apply in the case of engagement/employment on a contract for service basis (either as a contractor or as an employee of a contractor). Declaration Applicants will be required to declare whether they have previously availed of a Public Service scheme of incentivised early retirement.
