Senior Occupational Therapist

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Senior Grade Occupational Therapist (SEED Network) to join our team in CHO6, Dublin South (post based in Sandymount or Bray). Contract Type: This is a permanent, full time contract. Contract Hours: 35 hours per week. Salary Scale: €53,388 – €63,197 pro rata per annum. This pay scale is subject to increases in 2024 in accordance with the recent WRC interim agreement (Ref CAM -100101-22) towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations. Overview of the Post: To work as a senior occupational therapist within the CHO6 Motor Management team providing services to children 0 – 18 years and families within the region. The post holder will provide an occupational therapy service to include assessment diagnostics and intervention for children with a physical disability, and the development of clinical competencies in teams working with children. The post holder will work with other regional and tertiary Motor Management Clinicians to support the development of a National SEED Network of Practice around Motor Management. The purpose of the Motor Management Specialist Service is to provide support to clinicians, children and families attending a CDNT. Overview of Duties & Responsibilities: Clinical Services duties include: · Consultation, direct assessment and short-term interventions such as casting, splinting, equipment provision, therapy intervention. · Joint assessment, care planning and working with CDNT’s, other agencies and specialist service providers in the provision of collaborative and coordinated care. · Differential diagnosis and second opinion assessments. · Providing advice and support regarding therapy provision for children with physical disabilities. · Screening for onward referral to regional and national specialist clinics. National SEED (Sharing Expertise and Experience in Disability) Network: The post holder will work with other regional and tertiary Motor Management Clinicians to support the development of a National SEED Network of Practice around Motor Management: Duties include: · Promoting consistent, equitable Motor Management services of high quality, across all CDNT in line with the National PDS Programme and relevant policies, so that children with complex physical needs can live healthier and more independent lives · Identifying existing motor management services and areas where gaps exist nationally, including relevant Paediatricians and Orthopaedic Services. · Developing Motor Management Pathways to include referral, consultation and advice on onward referral to Motor Management Specialised Tertiary Services. · Promoting integrated care, working with all stakeholders including the child and family, the CDNT, Primary Care Teams, Tertiary Services, Heads of Discipline and Children’s Disability Network Managers. · Acting as an information resource to enhance knowledge and skills of regional and national CDNT members. · Providing education and training for CDNT’s to support the achievement of required competencies, regionally and nationally. · Embedding a culture and understanding of applied best practice standards of care in the management of motor disabilities within the Model for Children’s Disability Services. · Undertake clinical audit and research to ensure the maintenance and support of best practice and evidence-based practice. · Undertaking pathology surveillance and monitoring of motor management service needs regionally. · Monitoring the demand and need for specialist skills, regionally and nationally. · Contributing to the planning of services for children and families, regionally and nationally. The successful candidate will have: Essential Criteria: Candidates for appointment must: Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience. AND Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. AND Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. Annual registration On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland. Desirable Criteria: · Minimum 1 year post qualification experience of working with families and children with a range of physical disabilities/developmental delays. · Experience of working with children 0 – 18 years and their families. · Experience and/or training in clinical supervision. · Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a children’s disability service. · Experience of multi/interdisciplinary team working. · Experience of supervising students/therapy assistants.
