This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a technical team delivering services to drive the University's digital transformation agenda. The Enterprise Applications Group (EAG) in IT Services works closely with university managers in identifying and deploying systems to enable efficient business operations, and in delivering enterprise-level reporting to support operations and inform strategic planning. Over the past two years, EAG has worked hard to support remote for thousands of staff and tens of thousands of students. We have invested in state-of-the-art digital collaboration and productivity tools to enable people to work, student and research anywhere. As we return to hybrid working, we have continued this investment into new technologies (e.g. in our meeting rooms) to support these new ways of working. A significant focus of the group is on transforming manual processes into user-friendly, intuitive online workflows incorporating the latest web technologies. Every day, our staff and students interact with these web applications on their laptops and mobile devices. Around the world, our online student recruitment systems are helping to attract the next generation of students to UCD. UCD has one of the largest web environments in the country comprising over 400 individual sites - all hosted in the cloud.. EAG provides a range of leading-edge technologies to support this environment. These include a content management system, a web design library to ensure consistent design, a cookie management platform and a tool to audit the accessibility of our sites. We are seeking to recruit three developers with skills in some or all of the following areas: · Web design and development (including HTML, CSS and Javascript) · Database skills, including SQL and/or PL/SQL· Application expertise in relation to collaboration tools (in particular the Google suite)· Experience with business intelligence tools (particularly Tableau) Successful candidates will have experience in developing and deploying web-based applications, and/or in the implementation of large-scale enterprise applications. Please note: we are particularly interested in candidates with strong web development skills. The current vacancies are for contracts of 4.5 years, and we will be aiming to create a panel from which future vacancies will be filled. Following the success of a project which determined the level of SARS-CoV-2 genetic material wastewater treatment plants in the greater Dublin area, the team in University College Dublin is now expanding to facilitate the commencement of a National Wastewater Surveillance Programme funded by the Health Service Executive. The Programme will involve the weekly collection and analysis of wastewater samples from wastewater treatment plants located across the Republic of Ireland. Results of the analysis will be shared with the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, the National Virus Reference Laboratory and the National Public Health Emergency Team. We have a vacancy for a Research Project Administrator to manage the logistical aspects of the Programme within UCD. The position will involve liaising with the logistics suppliers, the UCD laboratory team and Irish Water to ensure the smooth running of the logistical process within UCD. The Research Project Administrator will also be responsible for communicating the results of analysis as and when they become available, to the appropriate bodies. The successful candidate will join a vibrant interdisciplinary team consisting of microbiologists, virologists, civil engineers, environmental biologists, statisticians and modellers.
