The Driver / Plant Operator A post is a critical post in terms of ensuring quality service delivery to the public. Typical services provided by Galway City Council include environmental, roads and transportation, maintenance of social housing units and estates, water services and drainage works (under a Service Level Agreement with Irish Water), upkeep of recreation and amenity facilities etc.  The post of Driver / Plant Operator A is located in various Departments across the Council including Recreation & Amenity, Roads and Water Services. The post will be permanent / temporary, wholetime and pensionable   Remuneration €619.86 - €641.01 gross per week (Circular Letter EL 05/2019 refers)   The holder of the office shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies (other than his/her inclusive salary) payable to and received by him/her by virtue of his/her office or in respect of services which he/she is required by or under any enactment to perform.   Please note starting pay for new entrants will be at the minimum of the scale. The rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.     Probation: (a)        there shall be a period after such appointments take effect during which such persons shall hold the position on probation, (b)        such period shall be 12 months but, the Chief Executive may at his or her discretion extend such period, (c)        such persons shall cease to hold the position at end of the period of probation unless during such period, the Chief Executive has certified that the service of such persons is satisfactory.   Hours of Duty The successful applicant will be required to work a 39 hour week at such specific times as may be notified by the Council from time to time. The holder of the post may be required to work outside of normal working hours, i.e. at evenings and/or weekends. Starting and finishing times are as notified to you by your supervisor.
