BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POST OF: PERMANENT FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE RELATIONS MANAGER HR DEPARTMENT JOB REF: 75889 THE ROLE: The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland West Region employ in excess of 1,900 staff providing services to over 2,000 adults and children with an intellectual disability across counties Galway and Roscommon. The ER Manager (post holder) is responsible for improving the employee experience, ensure ER operational excellence and compliance, while improving HR efficiency. The position reports into the Head of HR. Working closely with the wider HR team, in particular 3 Human Resource Managers, Sector Managers, recognised trade unions, HR compliance and services stakeholders, the desired candidate will develop and leverage ER best practices and processes to support our culture of been committed to the people we support and their right to lead full and valued lives as equal citizens. HOURS OF WORK: 70 hours per fortnight based on a 5 day Monday to Friday basis. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. over 7 days as future service needs require. Flexibility may be required in order to meet Service demands. ANNUAL LEAVE: 30 days per annum PENSION SCHEME: The Brothers of Charity Contributory Superannuation Scheme which is linked with the Nominated Health Agencies Superannuation Scheme or Single Public Service Pension Scheme (whichever is applicable) will apply to this appointment and the person appointed will enter the said Scheme as and from the date of taking up employment. REMUNERATION: Department of Health Grade VII (Clerical) Salary Scale (01/10/2024) - €58,254 x 8 increments - €70,654 (Max) per annum. LSI 1 €73,186 per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. LSI 2 €75,728 per annum is payable after a further 3 years. TRAVEL: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Portiuncula University Hospital comprises of 194 beds which includes plans for a new 50 bed ward block opening in August 2024. Portiuncula University Hospital provides 24/7 acute surgery, acute medicine, critical care, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology along with a 24/7 Emergency Department which had 30,283 attendances in 2023. The hospital serves the catchment areas of East Galway, Westmeath, North Tipperary, Roscommon and Offaly and has a natural referral pathway to the Midlands. Ballinasloe is the largest town in County Galway. The town has excellent junior and secondary schools and is close to the University of Galway and the Technology University of Shannon in Athlone. The town is served by public transport to the major centres. The area offers an abundance of sports, leisure and entertainment facilities. The town offers easy access to major regional centres of Galway City. Education & Training: Portiuncula University Hospital is a recognised site for training of undergraduate medical students from University of Galway and graduate entry medical students from University of Limerick. We are an accredited site for intern training for the West North West Intern Training program. We offer Basic Specialist Training in General Medicine to Senior House Officers on the RCPI training program and also an approved site with the ICGP West training scheme for GP training. We have international trainees on the CPSP program through RCPI and we also have Basic and Higher Specialist trainees in Surgery, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. There is formal structured weekly teaching for all medical staff in general internal medicine topics, MRCP teaching and exam preparation, advanced clinical skills training and inter professional simulation based education in the care of the deteriorating patient on a monthly basis. Portiuncula University Hospital & University of Limerick currently has the following vacancy: ICPOP MEDICAL REGISTRAR - INTEGRATED CARE PROGRAMME FOR OLDER PERSONS - 0.5 COMMUNITY (ICPOP)/0.5 FRAILTY AT FRONT DOOR (FFD) The role of the Registrar will include: • Facilitate the day to day running of the hub (ICPOP) and frailty at the front door (FFD) in conjunction with ANPs and Consultants • Provide rapid access to multidisciplinary comprehensive geriatric assessment for older people • Provide a continuity of care for these complex older patients who attend regularly • Facilitate Tilt Table and other diagnostic testing for patients attending the hub • Act as a link between ED doctors and GPs about appropriate referrals • Ensure audit of service at regular intervals to ensure it is meeting KPIs • Facilitate outreach clinics in the spoke centres • Have a working Knowledge of the health information and quality Authority (hiqa) standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, national Standards for the prevention and control of healthcare Associated infections, Hygiene Standards etc and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate to the role. • To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service. There may also be a requirement to cover hours in the other Children Services including Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School and the Child Development Centres located in Galway City. The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role to children. This role comprises of two main elements. Firstly the Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of personal care required by the individual child. This includes supporting children with their meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support the child through the development of Individual Plan’s and the achievement of associated outcomes, and critically, to support children in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. Qualifications/Experience/Skills: Working Hours: 50 hours per fortnight based on a 7-day/night duty roster. The successful candidates will be required to work a variety of shifts including weekends, public holidays, split duty hours, night duty and sleepover duty to meet service needs within the Children’s Services. Agreed allowances are paid in respect of hours of work as appropriate. Annual Leave: 22 days pro rata per annum.
