Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time fixed term position as a Research Assistant in Electro-thermal Modelling of Eco-efficient Magnet Wire in Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The position is available from 1st February 2022 until 31st March 2023. This position is funded by the Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) programme under the HI- ECOWIRE project (High Quality eco-efficient Magnet Wire: Alternative Technology to produce insulated wire for motor applications, HI-ECOWIRE webpage), whose aim is to develop a more environmental friendly insulated magnet wire for motor applications. Magnet wire (approx. annual production of 120 000 tons in NWE) is used for transformers and electric motors. Materials technologies are facing increasing environmental challenges, productivity and competitiveness requiring a review of their production methods.
