Job Purpose Dawn Farms is currently seeking a Microbiological Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory Department to be based in our state of the art production facilities in Naas, Co. Kildare .The Microbiological Laboratory Technician will be responsible for carrying out Full Microbiological analysis on all submitted samples and cooperate fully with all senior technicians and the laboratory manager in order to assist in the efficient day to day running of the laboratory. Location: Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland. Salary: DOE Working Hours: 39 hours per week, Mon. - Fri. (some flexibility required) Key Duties & Responsibilities: · To carry out requested analysis in a detailed, professional and efficient manner. · Working to the Scope of the Labs QMS CLAS approval as per ISO 17025/2017. · Login and record all sample details in a timely and accurate manner. · Prepare samples for analysis along with agars and reagents. · Perform analysis procedures as set out in the Laboratory manual. · Liaise with the Senior Technicians and the Laboratory Manager on all aspects of daily testing. · Perform and record all daily calibration checks. · To work with and perform all tasks as requested by the Quality and Technical teams. · Sample Preparation. · Perform appropriate serial dilutions on all samples i.e. raw, cooked or fermented products. · Prepare agars and diluents for testing. · Perform duties using aseptic technique. · Pour plates and incubate when set. · Equipment monitoring and calibration checks. · Take part in labs EQA and IQA program. · To perform duties with the strictest of confidentiality. · Liaising with other Departments within the Company to include Food Safety and Quality, Sales and Science and Innovation. · Dealing with Suppliers to the lab and purchasing Consumables. · Lean practices and problem solving. Responsible to: Senior Technicians /Laboratory Manager. Other Relationships: · Quality/Technical Depts of all Clients · Science and Innovation. Requirements for Job: · Adhere to safety rules /fire drills. · Complete any training courses. · Be proficient in GLP · Scientific Third level Qualification and or relevant experience · Good Communication and organisational skills · Be self-motivated and computer literate. · Ability to adapt and have flexible approach. · Efficient and works well under pressure. Qualifications & Experience: · Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment. · Experience of working in a busy, challenging environment. · Experience of working to tight deadlines & Good Computer Skills. · Certificate/ Diploma / Degree in relevant science subject or equivalent experience as outlined above.
