JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Staff Officer is a middle management position within the Council and is assigned responsibility for the day-to-day administration and management of a section or department handling an area of the local authority’s activities, including management and supervision of staff. The Senior Staff Officer is responsible for ensuring that goals set out in Departmental and Team Plans become operational actions through the planning, allocation, and prioritisation of work. The Senior Staff Officer is a key point of contact and liaison with other sections or departments in relation to all operational matters for the service delivery section or sections for which they are responsible. The Senior Staff Officer is expected to carry out their duties with an understanding of the political context of local government and in such a manner that enhances public trust and confidence and ensures impartial decision making. Sligo County Council has 18 elected members and approximately 460 staff. The Chief Executive of Sligo County Council is Mr. Martin Lydon and the Cathaoirleach is Cllr. Dónal Gilroy. Sligo County Council provides a diverse range of services across a large geographic area. Speech and Language Therapist, Senior CAMHS 0.8 WTE The speech & language therapist is a core team member in the CAMHS MDT. The CAMHS Speech & language therapist delivers intervention within an integrated CAMHS team. The post holder is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and management of own caseload of children and young people, presenting with communication issues in the context of moderate-severe mental health needs. The CAMHS SLT participates in differential diagnostic and joint formulation with CAMHS MDT colleagues to ensure timely and accurate intervention. The wider MDT mental health interventions are supported by the CAMHS SLT who aims to enhance clinical outcomes by adapting and co-designing mental health interventions, thereby improving access to, and efficacy of these therapeutic interventions. The person appointed to this post will work as a Senior Speech & Language Therapist in their designated clinical area, taking a lead role in the delivery of a high quality speech & language therapy service. The speech & language therapy team consists of the speech & language therapy manager based in Primary Care, one senior an. The SLT manager meets will all senior therapists individually for clinical supervision. There is a peer supervision group for senior SLTs, and the monthly department meeting is another forum where complex case discussion and other issues can be discussed in the wider SLT team context.
