BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POST: TEMPORARY FULL-TIME STAFF GRADE PHYSIOTHERAPIST ADULT SERVICES GALWAY JOB REF: 79028 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Grade Physiotherapist appointments within the Services may be made over the next 6 months. The Role: This post will be located within Galway city and county providing physiotherapy services people supported who access Adult services within the Brothers of Charity. Note 1*: Section 91 candidates are individuals who qualified before 30 September 2016 and have been engaged in the practice of the profession in the Republic of Ireland for a minimum of 2 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 2 years fulltime), between 30th September 2011 and 30th September 2016 are considered to be Section 91 applicants under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005. Annual registration (i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. Experience: It is desirable that candidates have experience or skills in the area of neurodisability and/or gerontology. A full clean driving licence and use of a car is an essential requirement of the post. Working Hours: 35 hours per week based on a 5 day duty roster. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm as future Service needs require. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 27 days per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Physiotherapist Salary scale (01/03/2025) - € 44,122 x 12 increments - € 61,953 per annum. LSI €63,154 per annum is payable after 3 years’ service at the maximum point of the scale Tenure: Temporary, full-time, pensionable and fixed term for 12 months. Travel: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. GALWAY JOB REF: 78961 The Brothers of Charity Services in South Connemara are a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community. Our focus going forward is to form a relationship/partnership with each individual and their family and communities, supporting people to plan and direct their own service so that they can enjoy a life with a healthy balance of supports. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form friendships. The Bruach na Mara Services operate in South Connemara, Co. Galway, where there are a range of services including day, residential, respite, family support services, training, education, employment opportunities, outreach community support services, Individualised services, and leisure activities to support 46 individuals. The Bruach Na Mara Services has a staff complement of 86 whole time equivalent staff and has an operating budget of just over €5 million. The Services were officially opened in 1983 in order to provide a community based service for individuals from the South Connemara region many of whom use Irish as their first language. Currently we provide services for 70 adults. We provide 14 locations between Furbo and Carraroe, and support people from all areas of South Connemara. The Service Coordinator, under the guidance of the Area Manager and supported by local staff teams, is responsible for the coordination and continued development of these services. Reporting/Responsible to: Area Manager/Sector Manager Qualifications/Experience: Skills: Excellent leadership, managerial and team-working skills are required to co-ordinate and support the service teams and to ensure that a range of high quality services are provided. Excellent communication and organisational skills together with up to date knowledge of current thinking and practices in person centred service delivery. Working Hours: Normal working week will be rostered on 7 daybasis including rostered weekends. Your fortnightly complement of working hours will be based on the grade of the successful candidate (Nursing/Social Care/Mgmt). Contracted hours of work are liable to change over seven days to meet requirements of the post and flexibility with regard to your hours of duty will be required to fulfil the duties of the post. An On-call commitment is an essential requirement of this post. The Service Coordinator will be on call after working hours during the normal working week, at weekends, covering holidays as part of a rostered on call system. In exceptional circumstances sleep-ins and night duty may be required. The Service Coordinator will be assigned person-in-charge (PIC) responsibilities under the HIQA Regulations. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidate i.e. (CNM3/Social Care) Remuneration: Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidate i.e. (CNM3/Social Care) Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area. Applications are invited for the following:- SERVICES MANAGER 2 / PERSON IN CHARGE– Ref: 19/2025 Social Care Manager 2 / Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) GRADE Permanent Full-Time (39 /37.5 hours per week) Location: Adults Residential Services, Cork suburb/ County Watergrasshill/ Ballinhassig, Co. Cork The Purpose The post holder will have responsibility for a small number of houses, (initially 3 houses with 7 residents) registered as 2 Designated Centre(s). The Person will be responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day management and co-ordination of all aspects of the service within the Service area. The model of Service will be based on the Good Lives and Stay Well planning systems. The successful candidate ideally should have a good working knowledge of Clinical Risk Management and in the identified planning systems or in the management of Services for persons with complex/behavioural support needs He/she will have responsibility for ensuring that the persons supported are appropriately placed within a day and residential placement at all times. The post holder must ensure that in keeping with the ethos of Service Communities, i.e. that the persons supported are enabled to reach their full potential, that options for progression are made available to per, particularly in terms of accessing the most appropriate day and residential services for them, throughout their lives. In order to ensure that the persons supported are residing and working in an area which is safe and healthy it will be important for the post holder works alongside the teams and makes periodic out of hours visits as appropriate in order to ensure that services are being delivered to the highest professional standards and in accordance with best practice. The post holder will work and be a member of the Sectoral Team and participate in the planning and future development of services, undertaking joint work and supporting the work within other Service Communities as directed by the Sector Manager. All matters relating to the Service are confidential in nature. Respect of the confidential nature of all information conveyed either verbally or in writing during the course of work is expected. A high level of flexibility, willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to your work as person supported needs demand is expected. To manage Services as allocated in accordance with all relevant legislation and Brothers of Charity policies and procedures, ensuring the service meets all the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA) minimum Standards and requirements. Ensure that the services provided help fulfil the Brothers of Charity vision for supporting persons with disability to live as valued citizens in their community. Working Context Residential supports are a very important part of the person’s life. Some of the people will have substantial personal care needs and some will have behaviour which is challenging. The manager is required to ensure that all relevant supports are identified and in place to support the person and staff in this regard. In addition to emergency cover, it is expected that the manager will work directly with the residents alongside the team as part of the roster to get a full insight into the operation of the service. Equally it is important for the post holder to make periodic out of hours visits as appropriate in order to ensure that services are being delivered to the highest professional standards and in accordance with best practice. Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems 2. Driving Licence Candidates must possess a full driving licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as it is essential for the roles. 3. Age The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants. * Public Servants not affected by this legislation: Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70. 4. Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 5. Hours of Work The normal working hours will be 37.5/39 hours per week (depending on qualification), work as part of the roster and taking part in an out of hours rota for emergency cover. 7.
