The Special EU Programmes Body are delighted to be offering the opportunity for a university student to join our IT team for a placement of up to 51 weeks. To provide effective IT support to SEUPB staff across all three office locations. Responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance and updating of IT systems, resolving day to day technical issues and ensuring security and integrity of all IT systems. The role also involves cross team collaboration on IT related projects. Support the IT Systems Officers and IT Manager by providing advice on the procurement of IT goods and external services when required. KEY FUNCTIONS: • IT Helpdesk Support to SEUPB users. • IT Systems Maintenance and Administration. • IT Systems Security/Cyber Security. • IT Operational duties. • IT Research. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist with management of desktop PCs, laptops, peripherals, and communications systems hardware support including problem solving hardware issues, third party warranty management. • Assist with desktop software support including operating systems, desktop applications, management, and license tracking, etc. • Administration of MFA authentication on M365 and devices. • Log tickets regarding IT systems/services via a ticketing helpdesk system. • Operationally ensure system backups are completed successfully. • Operationally check Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) logs/activity. • Assist with the maintenance and support of existing IT hardware and software. • Assist with maintenance of all IT networks and electronic communication systems. • Assistance with physical server hardware setup and support including problems solving server hardware issues. • Assist with the setup, administration, and management of the Hyper-V Virtual Server farm. • Assist with maintaining a Cisco ICT network infrastructure, and third-party warranty management etc. • Assist with back-end systems administration for a variety of services including OpenText Content Manager, Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Cluster, MYSQL, Microsoft Exchange Online, Active Directory User Accounts, MS Defender XDR, Software Updates, Security Management, and Network Management including VPN, Software installation, Print Management. SUMMARY OF JOB: • Assist with daily ICT housekeeping duties to maintain the efficiency of the Systems. *Provide system and other technical documentation in a complete, clear and concise manner, as needed. • Provide administration and support for other in-house databases. • Assist with ongoing maintenance and content management of SEUPB website. • Work with the IT Team to update/refresh IT policies and procedures. • Work with external IT Service Providers and Suppliers on an ad-hoc basis. • Compliance with all organisational policies and procedures including the IT Network, Internet & Email policy and Health & Safety Policies. • Support any user requirements capture and analysis as needed by SEUPB. • Ad hoc duties as required by the Body.

Apprentice Brickwork Technician

Successful completion of the programme may lead to appointment to a permanent Technician post at Band 3 within Belfast Metropolitan College. To provide specialist technical services to support teaching within the Construction Department. To develop relevant competencies and expertise over the three-year duration of the apprenticeship programme through in-house training, completion of professional/academic qualifications and tailored support and mentoring. This role will require the successful applicant to be on campus to deliver the duties required with the post.

Motor Vehicle Technician
Main Duties & Responsibilities To provide expert technical support and assistance to teaching staff and students and develop and maintain all technical aspects within Motor Vehicle department. Set up, before & during • Preparations of classroom area, resources, materials, equipment and/or tools before classes arrive to carry out practical activities. • Operate and train staff in the use of complex resources, materials, equipment and/or tools using safe working practices. • Demonstration, using expert knowledge, of techniques, resources, materials, equipment and/or tools to students under Lecturers supervision. Supervision of these whilst operated/used by students • Supervising correct usage of resources, materials and/or tools by Lecturers and Students. • Assisting Lecturers during practical sessions and ensuring that students use safe working practices. • Assisting Lecturers with exhibitions and displays of student work, staff research work and visiting exhibitions and displays. • Co-coordinating the loan of resources, materials, equipment and/or tools as required by students for teaching and/or project work and ensuring the correct safeguards are in place for the return of these. • Assisting students with experimental and project work in the use of resources, materials, equipment and/or tools. • Advise on Health and Safety issues in relation to the use of resources, equipment, tools and/or machinery. Clear Up • Accounting for resources, materials, equipment and/or tools at the end of practical sessions. • Maintaining optimum standards within the learning space complying with Health and Safety and Hygiene Regulations. • Dismantle and storage of relevant materials, equipment and/or tools at the end of practical sessions. • Disposing of used material in a safe and approved manner. • Regular cleaning of resources, materials, equipment, and/or tools. Maintenance, Repair, Service & Health & Safety • Assessing the condition of resources, materials, equipment and/or tools with regard to health and safety before further issue. • Regular repair of resources, materials, equipment and/or tools if required. • Routine testing, maintenance and service of resources, materials, equipment and/or tools to ensure they are in high quality working order and comply with Health and Safety and Hygiene Regulations. • Creation of Manuals detailing clear operating instructions for tools and/or machinery. Stock Control, Storage, Ordering • Maintaining adequate stock levels and records within the curriculum area. • Responsible for sourcing and purchasing new equipment and stock in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. • Liaising with industry representatives regarding stock. • Implementation of a stock control and cataloguing process using an IT database. • Receiving, checking and ensuring correct storage of stock. • Ensuring relevant stock take is undertaken. • Rotation and stock control of dry and perishable goods where appropriate. Development • Help Identify new technical requirements for the curriculum in conjunction with the course coordinators and Curriculum Managers. • Assisting Lecturing staff in the development and manufacture of teaching aids and models only in relation to the use of resources, materials, equipment and/or tools. • Consultation with companies on Project or contract work to be carried out and advising lecturers on this work and costs. General • Cash handling and completion of relevant documentation where applicable. • Assisting teaching staff with the set up and clearance for exhibitions, competitions and other displays. • Support all staff in ensuring the general safety of students. Duties may change as the College develops, therefore the person appointed will be expected to be flexible in relation to duties performed, subject to consultation. Location may be changed subject to the requirements of the College. Eligibility Criteria Qualifications A minimum of a level 3 NVQ in light vehicle/ heavy vehicle or a related equivalent qualification. GCSE English Language & Mathematics at grade A - C or equivalent qualification. (Where this cannot be evidenced, candidates will be required to undertake an assessment prior to interview to confirm equivalence). Experience At least one years’ experience in a relevant sector. Skills Wide range of skills in workshop maintenance as well as proven ability to operate a range of workshop equipment.

Faults are diagnosed and you will repair or replace the defective components as necessary. You will manage the mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic aspects of the vehicle.

The work also involves fabrication, using machine tools, ie: Lathe, Milling Machine, Grinders etc.. All M.A.M.F apprentices will be trained in the following, working with a variety of specialised tools- Lathe, Milling machine, Grinders, working with drilling and milling machines and welding plants, working on complex hydraulic systems, interpreting technical drawings, assembling new machinery, dismantling, repair/make & fitting of new parts, machine wiring, electrical machine components installation and report writing of completed work. PAY We pay all our apprentices the recommended wage set by the ETB. Review it after 3 months (A well adjusted candidate will be offered above the recommended wage,) A training allowance is paid by the local ETB while the apprentice is attending the off-the job training.
