Swimming Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE Committing to the one-team ethos, you will be flexible and collaborative and you will actively support all colleagues and other activities necessary to deliver the service objectives. As the Swimming Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Learn to Swim and Lifesaving Programmes within the Centre. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage, develop, deliver, evaluate and oversee the Learn to Swim Programme, including use of the course management software • Manage Swimming Teachers and Coaches within the Learn to Swim Programme and evaluate performance • Ensure that standards of teaching and coaching are consistent from teacher to teacher and adhere to the agreed framework and follow best industry practice • Build relationships with schools and clubs to promote the benefits of the Centre’s Programme • Prepare lesson plans and schemes of work that meet the requirements of the Learn to Swim Programme • Deal with customer queries, complaints, comments and suggestions in a timely manner • Develop, plan and deliver all aspects of Lifeguard training, to include monitoring of performance and updating of records • Manage and implement the requirements of the RLSS and Trainer Assessor System • Assist with the establishment of risk assessments and normal operating/emergency procedures within the Aquatics areas • Continually update knowledge, abilities, qualifications and CPD so that teaching content and techniques are kept updated for the benefit of the customers of the Centre • Actively promote the Learn to Swim Programme to ensure its continued success and growth • Promote and/or sell all products and activities within the Centre and within the Leisure Services portfolio • Be flexible and collaborative and actively support all colleagues and other activities or processes which impact on the performance of the Centre QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING • 3rd level qualification (i.e. HNC/HND, Level 4, Degree) in line with the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) in a relevant discipline/subject (please note relevancy should be clearly demonstrated) EXPERIENCE • Two years’ experience of teaching swimming • Experience of planning swimming programmes • Experience of record-keeping Applicants who do not meet the essential qualification or who are currently undertaking the qualification outlined above must demonstrate five years relevant experience as above.
