As Purchasing Manager, you are responsible for overseeing and managing the organisation's procurement of goods and services. You will develop and implement purchasing strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure the efficient and effective flow of supplies while optimising costs and quality. Purchasing Manager duties and responsibilities As Purchasing Manager, you will ensure that Barna Recycling gets results from its procurement agreements. Your main duties and responsibilities include: · Identifying products, services and equipment to be purchased · Verifying the key suppliers for procurement · Monitoring and forecasting inventory, determining purchasing needs and identify costs · Overseeing daily activities of the purchasing department, including delegating tasks and team supervision · Establishing quality control and ensuring that purchased stock meets company standards · Managing procurement budget and preparing cost estimates · Compiling and maintaining purchase records, supplier databases and procurement contracts Purchasing Manager experience requirements · Previous experience as a purchasing manager essential · In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, strategies and best practices. · Experience in implementing sustainable and socially responsible procurement practices. · Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimisation and negotiation techniques. · Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems. · An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. · Proficiency in using procurement software and systems. · Knowledge of local and national laws and regulations related to procurement. · Willingness to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment. · Strong leadership and team management skills. DIFP, which is funded by DFAT, publishes documents from Irish government department files and, where required, the private papers of key figures that are considered important or useful for an understanding of the development and execution of Irish foreign policy. DIFP contributes to a deeper understanding of Ireland’s foreign policy and encourages, at home and abroad, public interest in and research on Irish foreign policy as an important area of modern Irish history. DIFP occupies a central place in the research infrastructure for modern Irish history. Its staff play an active role in Ireland and internationally as public historians. Fourteen volumes have been published since 1998, charting the development of Irish foreign policy from 1919 to 1973. The publication of these volumes is DIFP’s core task. Key purpose of role This vacancy has arisen as a consequence of a member of DIFP staff taking a three-year career break. The appointee will be required to deal with a broad range of research, editorial, publishing and communications tasks.
