Professional Qualifications, Experience etc. (a) (i) A recognised University degree or diploma (NQAI Level 8 equivalent) obtained with first or second class honours in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject. AND (ii) Have an Irish postgraduate professional psychology qualification recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland. OR (iii) A recognised postgraduate professional psychological qualification equivalent from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. AND (b) Have at least eight years satisfactory postgraduate experience in the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated (Clinical, Educational or Counselling) inclusive of any time spent in pursuing a course leading to the postgraduate qualification and including at least three years satisfactory experience in a senior capacity. Overview of the Post The purpose of the role is to work as a member of the team providing preschool and home support services within the Kilkenny/Carlow CHO5 area in active partnership and in line with the needs and wishes of each child and family. Overview of Duties & Responsibilities · Create an environment, which promotes each child’s participation in terms of choice and decision-making and in which each child is enabled to reach their highest level of independence. · Provide leadership, supervision and support to all support staff in the provision of clinical and care support services across multiple locations. · Identify and understand the health and medical needs of each child as required and ensure their needs are met appropriately. · Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation and review of care for children according to service standards including TUSLA and HIQA regulations. · In partnership with parents/carers/team to act as facilitator to foster links with the child’s future educators. · Ensure the implementation of agreed programmes of care for each child, are met in ways, which promote dignity and respect for the child. · Provide support and or mentorship to staff and students. · Identify training needs and deliver training to non-nursing staff as required. · Ensure that the care and hygiene of treatment rooms, bathroom and toileting facilities are to the highest standards. · Planning and management of bus routes and time schedules and act as bus escort in the transportation of the children to and from home as required. · Work with individual children in a range of settings. At all times the staff will take the lead in ensuring the safety of the children. · To carry out vaccination of both service owners and staff as required. · Staff will be expected to display appropriate sensitivity while working closely with families and service users. · Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to make a credible contribution to the service.
