Day Centre Manager
Purpose of Position: Reporting to Operations Manager, this position's primary responsibility is to deliver efficient and effective support services to persons living with dementia and their families. This will be achieved through the impactful, supportive, and delivery-focused leadership of front-line management within the service. With a strong focus on efficiency, systems and quality of care, the Daycare Manager will ensure consistently high standards are achieved across all facets of his/her responsibility. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide daycare and support services to the person living with dementia that focuses on increasing their self-esteem and provides a better quality of life for the person living with dementia and their carers. Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients that attend the day care centre and support services and their carers/advocates. Build up a trusting relationship with clients and their carers so that they feel secure in the daycare environment. Provide stimulating and enjoyable activities for the clients in a relaxed and homely environment. Oversee the planning, development and delivery of a diverse range of services and activities tailored to the needs and interests of the clients. Provide care support and education to family carers. Supervise, coordinate and support the work of all staff assigned to the services. Lead the teams to ensure that we meet and/or exceed all targets whilst always focusing on best practice and flexibility to deliver to client needs and requirements. Ensure the effective management of all human resources (staff & volunteers); ensure clarity of roles, assignment of duties, adequate staff client ratios, arrangement of leave and payment of salaries etc. Ensure fair and consistent application of all ASI policies and procedures including the ASI Health and Safety system. Provide clear, concise, and timely information to team members. Support and develop the volunteer network and ensure new volunteers are supported and trained. Lead effective communication and integration between the services and National Office. Ensure that the reputation of the Society and the Service is protected and developed by ensuring that all operational, financial, and regulatory standards are met in line with Society policy and procedure. Manage and maintain records and documentation and standard operating procedures to include legislative and compliance documentation for the service. Manage budgets, resources and staffing to ensure efficient and effective daycare and support service delivery. Promote daycare and support services at a local level and network with local organizations and healthcare providers. Carry out other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Knowledge/Experience: • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role / environment. • Degree or foreign equivalent (validated by NQAI) ideally in Nursing or Social Care or Social Studies or • A third level qualification in business, management or facility management. • Proven ability to provide excellent leadership of successful teams (staff & volunteers). • Experience of People management. • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills. • Proven experience in service delivery and service development. • Demonstrated knowledge of the voluntary sector, older people issues and dementia. • An understanding of legislation relevant to the role e.g. Health and Safety, Employment legislation etc. • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) & SharePoint. • Full clean driving licence. Support Services Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of the role is to coordinate and facilitate the MCST Activity Club on a regular basis. MCST Coordinator is responsible for facilitating Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) activity sessions for people living with dementia. • Ensure fair and consistent application of all Society policies and procedures and compliance with GDPR. • Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients, their carers/advocates and all persons attending the clubs. • Escalate any health and safety issues or safeguarding concerns as required. • Reporting issues, queries, concerns to your line manager. The principal accountabilities outline the main duties. However, in an organisation such as the ASI, it is inevitable that tasks may arise which may not fall within the remit of the above list of main duties. Employees are therefore required to respond with a flexible approach when tasks arise which are not specifically covered in their job description. JOB HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge (Education & related experience): • Minimum of 1 -2 years’ experience of working in a similar role. • Experience in health, social or disability care. • Experience of working with people living with dementia. • QQI Level 5 is desirable. • Training in dementia, care of elderly or related area an advantage. • Good planning, time management and organisational skills essential. • Strong Computer skills.
