Hours: 7.5 hours (Mon-Fri, mornings) As a Cleaning Operative, you’ll be instrumental in creating a welcoming, hygienic environment, which will help to deliver exceptional results for our clients. As one of our dedicated Cleaners, you will be responsible to provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment which helps shape those vital first impressions and speaks volumes about the organisation. Key Responsibilities include: Working alongside our cleaning and facilities teams to keep environments safe and hygienic for every client and customer Dusting, sweeping, polishing, mopping, and vacuuming designated areas to a high standard Ensuring surface areas, floors, windows, and other touchpoints are sanitised regularly Performing additional cleaning duties as and when required, such as mopping up spillages quickly and efficiently Emptying and disposing of bin waste Monitoring and re-stocking cleaning supplies. Previous experience as Cleaner is not mandatory as full training on all aspects of the role would be provided. Streetscape Groundsperson/Gravedigger
KEY PURPOSE Responsible for the delivery of a customer focused and diverse range of day to day operational duties in all weather conditions, carried out in accordance with Health and Safety obligations and standard operating procedures and to provide Streetscape Services in all areas within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AStreetscape Groundsperson/Gravedigger will be required to: 1. Undertake grounds maintenance and grave digging duties, in a professional manner using creativity and expertise where required to specified standards in accordance with planned operational procedures. 2. Drive, operate and maintain allocated vehicles, heavy plant and ancillary equipment including the loading/unloading of same in consideration of prevailing weather conditions and in accordance with competent person’s standard operating procedures and taking into consideration traffic management (T1 & T2) responsibilities. 3. Operate, maintain, store and secure all heavy plant, machinery equipment and/or tools in accordance with standard operating procedures and Health and Safety obligations for self, work colleagues and the public. Ensuring that all plant, machinery and equipment is cleaned daily. 4. Undertake duties and deliver the services(s) including risk assessment(s) and maintain chemical records, in compliance with COSHH, (Pesticide Applications) standard operating procedures and Health and Safety obligations. 5. Operate within the safe system(s) of work to identify and treat horticultural or sports turf related diseases and store chemical sprays, pesticides, herbicides, cleaning materials and/or all associated equipment in accordance with procedures. 6. Carry out all year round maintenance work to specified standards of game/leisure facilities. 7. Carry out grave digging and all cemetery operations to the specified standards to include Exhumations as and when required. 8. Complete accurate works records, on a daily basis, in line with Council’s policies and procedures, including vehicle/plant/equipment daily start up and defect sheets, daily worksheets and traffic management. Record and report defects to Line Manager and/or Vehicle Workshop Supervisor. 9. Undertake general cleaning/maintenance duties including the removal of litter, dog fouling and servicing of litter bins. 10. Assigned key holder for various Council premises undertaking stewarding, cleaning and caretaking of events relative to the service, checking permits and dealing with the general public. 11. Use tact, empathy and diplomacy when dealing with members of the public, colleagues and other relevant stakeholders; keeping records of normal routine enquiries and complaints and ensure these are forwarded to the Crew Leader or Supervisor. 12. Carry out salting and snow clearance duties in all Council areas as required including responsibility for safekeeping of keys to all facilities/gates and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed on a timely basis as required. 13. Provide guidance and training in the day-to-day operational duties of colleagues and casual staff. 14. Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation. 15. Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures. 16. Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time. 17. Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
