Annual Leave Entitlement : 33 days pro rata per annum and proportionately less for less than 12 months service Overview of the Post: The post holder will be responsible for the development, management and delivery of a range of respite services in the region including day, evening and weekend respite, afterschool support, summer activity sessions and future alternative respite services across the Southeast. This includes responsibility for the management of staffing, budgets, and the provision of the highest standards of respite care. This will consist of planning, developing, managing and reviewing services in line with the identified needs in the area and aligned to Enable Ireland’s Strategic Plan and model of service delivery. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and the implementation of Enable Ireland policies and procedures, ensuring that services are child-centered and in line with best practice ensuring a high standard of clinical care is maintained. Rialto Primary Care Centre: The Nursing team consists of approximately 20 staff nurses in 11 Addiction centres across south Dublin city and the wider South Dublin area. There are also two Drug Liaison Midwives and a Hepatitis C Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in youth drug and alcohol services. The management team consists of a Director of Nursing and two Clinical Nurse Managers. Bray Primary Care Centre: The Nursing team consists of approximately 5 staff nurses in 3 Addiction centres across Dublin South, Dun Laoghaire, and East Wicklow Community Healthcare East (DSDLEW). There is a Drug Liaison Midwife, a Hepatitis C Clinical Nurse Specialist, and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in youth drug and alcohol services. The management team consists of a Director of Nursing and one Clinical Nurse Manager. The nursing team functions from Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm, with some clinics providing an evening nursing service from 5pm until 8pm. Nurses may be required (after the initial orientation period) to work alone alongside the multi-disciplinary team consisting of doctors, general assistants, onsite pharmacists, counsellors, and rehabilitation integration staff. Nurses are responsible for completing initial assessments for clients who wish to start on a treatment programme. Data collected by the nurse during initial assessments are used to populate the national waiting list, Service Performance Indicators, and the National Drug Treatment Reporting System. Nurses work collaboratively with other agencies, for example mental health teams and primary care teams, to improve wellbeing and health outcomes for all clients attending the service. Nurses promote principles of self-care and empower service users to access and use health resources in their community. Nurses use bespoke care planning specific to each service user’s presenting issues. Nurses perform point of care testing, for example testing for hCG in urine specimens. The role includes venepuncture, wound management, vaccination, and responding to medical emergencies. Nurses are provided with training in line with national requirements and training specific to the addiction service, most training is provided in-service. Nurse meetings are held every month, to evaluate ongoing service needs, implement changes in line with new evidence-based practise, and distribute information.
