The Basic Orthoptist therefore has a vital role to play in providing a comprehensive and high-quality eye care service to patients across the IHA in conjunction with other members of the Community Eye Care teams. Both teams comprise of multi-disciplinary team members. The Community eye service has two Consultant Ophthalmologists (specialisms in Neuro Ophth, Uveitis, Medical retina, Glaucoma and Peads). 6 Optometrists, 1.2 Senior Orthoptists, 1.0 Orthoptist 1 Community Ophthalmic Physician, 2 Ophthalmic technicians.
