Engineer Grade In Marine Engineering Division
1. ABOUT THE ROLE The Engineer appointed to this post will be responsible for the work of the Marine Engineering Division (MED) in the Western Region reporting to Senior Engineering Management. The Western Region includes the maritime counties of Clare, Galway and Mayo and Ros an Mhíl Fishery Harbour Centre. The work of the post will include: · Delivery of an aquaculture licence assessment and monitoring programme for the region. · Ensuring the efficient operational management of Ros an Mhíl and any other Fishery Harbour Centre as may be assigned from time to time. · Develop and implement the Fishery-related Infrastructure Development Programme within the region. · Provide technical advice where engineering and harbour operational advice is sought. · Contribute to the DAFM Marine Portfolio, including Foreshore, Environment and Climate Change Principal duties: · Manage all affairs of the region so as to maximise its contribution to the Department’s Statement of Strategy and high-level goals. · Take responsibility for and ensure delivery of the region’s contribution to the Business Plan targets of the Marine Engineering Division. · Take responsibility for and ensure all work in the region is carried out to a high standard and complies with all relevant technical, safety, environmental and planning legislation, regulations and guidelines. · Take responsibility for and ensure all expenditure in the region complies with relevant procurement and accounting guidelines, including the Infrastructure Guidelines as published by the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform. · Take responsibility for and ensure safety and welfare of all staff under their control. · Ensure all staff under their control participates fully in the PMDS (Performance Management and Development System) process. · Ensure and encourage training and development of all staff under their control. · Any other duties as directed from time to time by the Chief Engineer.
