Consultant In Emergency Medicine
The service at Portlaoise is open 24/7, staffed by NCHDs in Emergency Medicine over 24 hours and additionally cover in-house medical and surgical teams from midnight to 8am. The ED consultant services in this region has been identified as a priority by the Clinical Care Programme in Emergency Medicine. The posts are essential to maintain the current service as above . The post is an essential component of the improved governance arrangements in the Emergency Department at Portlaoise. The post will enable a stabilization of safer and higher quality Emergency Medicine services at Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. It will assist with meeting national Patient Experience Targets It will also ensure Consultant supervision and training of Specialist Registrars, Registrars and SHOs in Emergency Medicine 1.Improved “shop floor” supervision of NCHDs 2.Develop guidelines/protocols with specialties within the hospital but also with the MRH Tullamore to enhance patient care and deliver a more streamlined service across the two sites 3.Develop new educational opportunities for all ED staff There are 2 posts available- sucessful candidates will be offered a POCC23 contract. Initial duration will be 9 months, pending permanent filling .
Technical Services Officer
Technical Services Officer Full Time (1 WTE), Permanent The Technical Services Officer manages the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of CRC premises (currently 17 locations), ensuring that buildings, equipment, and associated services meet statutory standards, regulatory requirements, and operational needs, while driving continuous improvement in safety, maintenance, and service delivery. The role involves • coordinating planned and reactive maintenance, supporting minor works projects • implementing robust health, safety, and risk‑management practices • managing contractors and internal teams • procuring goods, works and services in compliance with public procurement requirements The Technical Services Officer plays a key part in enabling high‑quality services by ensuring that all CRC environments are functional, safe, and fit for purpose. Essential Qualifications and Experience · A degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent (NFQ Level 7 minimum). · Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. · Full Manual Driving Licence valid in the State. · Own vehicle that can be used for work. Travel to various sites will be required. Public sector mileage and subsistence rates applicable. · Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role. · Working with Irish & EU Public Procurement Guidelines · Managing PPMs, and contractors · Development and implementation of Facilities & Maintenance Manuals for facilities, maintenance, safety, and compliance · People management and the ability to work collaboratively across functions and teams. · Experience leading or supporting organisation-wide improvement or compliance initiatives. Desirable Qualifications and Experience · Member of a relevantProfessional Body · Health and safety qualification in the safe management of construction works. · Cost reports, budget preparations, managing health and safety as it applies to property maintenance and management · Experience working with utility providers, councils, and other Statutory bodies on property maintenance and management · Fulfilling the role of Building Surveyor in the preparation of condition reports.
