The Consultant must, at all times while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Documentary evidence of Medical Council Registration is required and must be produced annually to the Medical Administration Department within the Children’s Health Ireland. Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate. Clinical Nurse Specialist Tissue Viability
Purpose of the Role: Tissue Viability Service is a new service being developed within CHI and will be supported within the wider organisation by the Burns and Plastic Surgery team. It delivers care and advice to service users across CHI who are both inpatients and outpatients, providing comprehensive assessment, evaluation, advice and treatment plan for wound management. The Tissue Viability Service once established will accept referrals from all specialist clinical practitioners within CHI and provides support and clinical expertise. The CNS/CNSc and ANP in Tissue Viability will work within the Burns and Plastic Surgery team and review, treat and advise referrals for the Tissue Viability service. They will be accountable, responsible and have the authority for delivering a quality service and ensuring patient safety in the service. As the role evolves, the CNS/CNCc will provides holistic broad-based service-driven episodes of care, treat and refer children across the clinical networks. This enhanced role will include nurse lead discharge thereby reducing OPD follow up. Essential Criteria: (i) Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais and Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered. AND (ii) Be registered in the division(s) of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) Register for which the application is being made or be entitled to be so registered. Purpose of the Role: A key objective of the post is to develop the job description and supporting documentation, under the direction of the Health Care Provider’s Advanced Practice Stakeholder Governance Group, to enable the individual nurse to meet the NMBI criteria to register as a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) as set out in Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI, 2017).
