SOLAS and the Department of Education and Science have responsibility for providing the off-the-job training, whilst your on-the job training will take place on site with the Dawn Ballyhaunis Maintenance team. We are a small company with ten staff, working together. APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM Larry Byrne Engineering Ltd we offer a wide range of training programmes, working on different machinery, vehicles and plants. The apprenticeship consists of four on the job phases with Larry Byrne Engineering Ltd and three off-the job training phases in accordance with Solas scheduling system. WHAT IS A MECHANICAL AUTOMATION & MAINTENANCE FITTER The work of the M.A.M.F involes machinery installation, machinery assembly, maintenance and repairs, replacement of broken or worn parts, adjustment and servicing. The work also involves fabrication, using machine tools, ie: Lathe, Milling Machine, Grinders etc.. All M.A.M.F apprentices will be trained in the following, working with a variety of specialised tools- Lathe, Milling machine, Grinders, working with drilling and milling machines and welding plants, working on complex hydraulic systems, interpreting technical drawings, assembling new machinery, dismantling, repair/make & fitting of new parts, machine wiring, electrical machine components installation and report writing of completed work. PAY We pay all our apprentices the recommended wage set by the ETB. Review it after 3 months (A well adjusted candidate will be offered above the recommended wage,) A training allowance is paid by the local ETB while the apprentice is attending the off-the job training. REQUIREMENT Junior Certificate must be completed Must be 16 years old or older Good communciation skills Ability to work as part of a team, to enrol in our apprenticeship programme. We are currently recruiting for a Joiner/Mould Maker to join our Joinery Team. The purpose of the role is to operate as part of a team in the production of moulds in accordance with the Company standards and targets, adhering to the daily production plan e.g., manufacturing timber moulds, carrying out tasks effectively and meeting Health and Safety and Quality standards. Hours of work: Hours will be variable between 32 – 48 hours per week as needed. Standard hours of work will be Monday – Friday 06:00am – 15:00 or 07:00 – 16:00, however flexibility to work overtime and or/ Saturdays as necessary is essential. The ideal candidate will have the following: Joinery Qualification / Previous experience of working within a Joinery/mould-making team to achieve set targets, preparing moulds using correct materials to specification, tasks being carried out efficiently. Knowledge of H&S rule and procedures, experience of adhering to these. Health and Safety qualification would be beneficial e.g., CSR. Knowledge of quality standards and experience of applying these. Ability to read technical drawings is essential. Can demonstrate a positive approach for the team achieving the daily/weekly results for health & safety, quality, production etc. Clear communication skills as part of a team, discussing matters and reporting matters to the Line Manager when necessary.
