Purpose of the Role The role places furniture handling at its core, with a strong focus on maximising sales, productivity, revenue opportunities and customer satisfaction. This is achieved by efficiently collecting and redistributing donated furniture, excess donated goods and stock items between donors' private homes and premises and Vincent's charity shops in the region, delivering goods to customers' private homes and premises, and managing other logistical needs as required. Key responsibilities include the safe and efficient handling, lifting and movement of furniture, along with bric-a-brac, donation bags and similar items, ensuring that all goods are transported, loaded and unloaded with due care. Additional duties support the wider logistical needs of the service as required. All duties must be carried out promptly and in full compliance with the Society's retail standards, relevant legislation and the SVP's policies and ethos. Guidance and Authority The post holder is expected to operate with considerable autonomy, referring matters to their line manager when: Salary €16.66 per hour

Key Skills • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical and pneumatic drawings. • Capable of clearly understanding the functionality of the equipment being built. • Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative solutions both mechanically and electrically. • A high degree of craft skill with the ability to setup machines to fine tolerances to produce the desired results. • Excellent communication skills. • Proficient computer skills in MS office, experience with mechanical and electrical CAD software is an advantage.

Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice
The Trade of Carpentry & Joinery is very wide and varied. It encompasses most of the skills required by the Wood Trades. These skills required of the Carpenter & Joiner are not confined to those required to work in wood but include skills in the use of metals, plastics and fabrics. The Carpenter & Joiner is also required to work in a cross section of domains within the overall trade. The following are some examples: Joinery Shop: This section of the occupation requires the Carpenter & Joiner to engage in setting out, production and assembling items of joinery which include stairs, doors, windows and built-in furniture. Site Work: Site work is the construction of buildings or houses which require 1st fixing, formwork roofs and 2nd fixing. This section is split into two categories: constructing and civil engineering contracts. Maintenance: Maintenance work requires the Carpenter & Joiner to carry out a variety of tasks in general maintenance and upkeep of public and private buildings, e.g. shops and factories. There are other areas associated with the trade which include renovating buildings, shopfitting, and exhibition/display work. General Duties · Requisition of foodstuffs and materials. · Prepare both raw and cooked food. · Cook food to a high standard. · Portion and pack both raw and cooked food. · Rotate and allocate foodstuffs. · Regenerate and service food. · Label, chill and store food. · Keep accurate records and operate necessary computer systems. · Maintain the cleanliness and good order of area of assignment and associated areas to the highest possible standard in line with hospital and HSE policy. · Efficiently and economically use materials and equipment. · Implement cost control measures aiming to achieve maximum utilisation of resources. · Assist with special functions as required. · Provide assistance and advice to staff in packing / plating areas on portion size. · Check for meals at all service points throughout the site for quality, quantity and presentation. · Cash handling/reconciliation, where appropriate. · Stock-taking at relevant intervals. · Checking the quality of goods received as per specification. · Provide cover for existing Chef as appropriate. · Participate and contribute to food surveys and feedback mechanisms within the service. · Liaise with user groups on the compilation of menus and the provision of service. · Be aware of developments in the industry / changes in food trends with a view to assisting with their introduction, as appropriate, to maximise sales. · Any other duties relevant to the post as may be allocated by the Line Manager.
