APPRENTICESHIP: Fitter Apprenticeship (4 year apprenticeship) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This engineering programme will give you opportunity to work with advanced food processing machinery with all the demands of a fast paced environment. You will work alongside highly skilled engineers striving to attain engineering excellence whilst eliminating waste and reducing costs. You will build on your current knowledge gained in your engineering degree and / or apprenticeship to continuously improve processes to exceed customer expectations. This is a factory based role with opportunity for managerial experience from a very early stage. Key Responsibilities: • Daily Pouch Plant checks which include uploading findings onto the GMP folder & keeping the GMP tracker up to date • Minimum Twice Daily Pouch Filler Checks & random checks throughout the shift • Minimum Twice Daily Pack Hall Checks & random checks throughout the shift • Glass & Hard Plastic Audits weekly/monthly • Weekly Pouch Plant Break Back Trap Checks • Monthly Staff Canteen Audit • Monthly Locker Audit Check • Daily Cleaning Verification Checks • Daily Failsafe Checks on Metal Detector & Check weighers • Communicate issues from Pouch Plant & Packing Hall to operators, supervisors & managers • Review & sign paperwork throughout shift on floor (including retort sheets) • Daily Product Review – Checking finished product & providing feedback • pH testing • Incubation control & management • Become a member of the Internal Site Auditing Team • Participate in Customer visits/audits • Organize samples for R&D testing analysis • Any other requirements which may arise to support the quality department including (Thermal Processing, Cleaning, Pest Control) Competencies: • Good organisational skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to effectively deal with people at all levels of the business. • A service-oriented approach to work with a good understanding of customer requirements. • A conscientious individual who leads by example and enjoys working in a safe and accurate environment with a flexible approach to work. Heavy Vehicle Mechanics Apprentice
We currently have apprentices and we are looking for more to expand our team, a vacancy has become available for a 1st Year Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join the service and diagnostic team The successful candidate will complete their Heavy vehicle Mechanics apprenticeship in conjunction with SOLAS which involves both on and off the job training. On successful completion of this heavy vehicle Mechanics apprenticeship, the apprentice is awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in the Craft of heavy vehicle Mechanics. Requirements: · Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. · Excellent Time Keeping Skills · Excellent communication and customer service skills. · A very positive attitude and a genuine desire to fulfil a career as a heavy vehicle mechanic. · Self-motivation and hard driven . A full, valid driving licence or be working towards one . Diagnose turbo charger faults and remove/repair and replace components • Diesel Fuel System: Remove/test and refit/replace injectors. Remove/ replace diesel injection components. Check exhaust emissions with smoke meter and diagnose faults. Remove/replace/time, fuel injection pumps. Remove/repair/ replace fuel lift pumps • Transmission: Remove/refit gearboxes. Diagnose faults in clutch, remove/ replace components. Remove/replace driveshaft joints and bearings • Suspension: Remove/replace suspension components • Wheels: Balance wheels and repair punctures • Bodywork: Remove/replace bodywork components e.g. door locks, windows and regulators. Repair/adjustment of mechanical and hydraulic types of cab tilting and locking devices. Fit safety crash barriers and reflector markings • Lights Remove/replace components and focus headlights Specialist Skills Brakes: Diagnose/rectify faults in ABS brakes. Diagnose faults in air assisted hydraulic and full air brake systems. Remove/replace and adjust system components • Engine: Carry out complete engine overhaul • Hydraulics: Overhauling and fitting tipping gear, tail lift and loading/ unloading crane equipment • Suspension: Diagnose and rectify faults in pneumatically and electronically controlled air suspension systems • Transmission: Diagnose faults in and overhaul gearboxes. Diagnose faults in and overhaul differential and hub-reduction units. Diagnose and rectify faults in pneumatically and electronically operated gear change, differential and inter axle locking mechanisms • Electrical Diagnose/rectify faults in electrical circuits using wiring diagrams and multimeter. Remove/refit vehicle entertainment systems. Install basic electrical equipment • Bodywork: Adjustment and overhaul/replacement of fifth wheel coupling and semi trailer king pin Common Skills • Metalwork: Basic bench fitting. Gas welding, brazing, cutting and arc welding • Brakes: Diagnose faults in hydraulic brakes system and remove/replace components • Steering: Check and adjust steering geometry. Remove/replace steering components (manual and power assisted type steering) • Engine: Remove/dismantle/reassemble and refit an engine. Diagnose faults in cooling system and remove/replace components • Electrical: Diagnose/rectify faults in starting and charging systems and remove/ replace components. Engineering Apprentice
OVERALL ROLE OBJECTIVE: Reporting to the Development Engineering Team Leader and working alongside the Mechanical Development Engineers, the successful candidate will attend training from an agreed Training Provider whilst gaining practical experience in AES over an initial two-year period. A further two-year period will comprise of 4 days per week in Almac in conjunction with day release to allow additional academic training. JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attend training as specified by the chosen training facilitator. Report to work in engineering department when not attending training. 2. Manufacture of framework components from engineering drawings. 3. Fabrication and assembly of components using hand tools. 4. Modification and repair of components for use in Production. 5. Bench finishing and fitting of components and tooling. 6. Maintain a clean and tidy working environment. 7. Comply with all instructions laid down in the company’s SOP’s and Engineering Procedures. 8. Any other duties deemed appropriate in relation to the position, including working additional hours as requested. QUALIFICATIONS 3 GCSE (or equivalent) passes Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics (OR working towards an equivalent) KEY SKILLS Good communication skills, verbal and written.
