About This Role Role Purpose The purpose of the Clerical Officer roles in the Media Development and Media Funding teams is to be responsible for the administration aspects of the Journalism, Digital Transformation, Sound and Vision and News Reporting Schemes. About the Teams The Funding Team is part of the Media Landscape Division and is responsible for administering funding schemes that support the production and preservation of culturally significant broadcast content. This includes Sound and Vision, a funding scheme for television and radio which supports the creation of high quality programmes in both English and Irish, focused on Irish culture, heritage and experience, as well as initiatives aimed at improving adult literacy. Media Development is also part of Coimisiún na Meán's Media Landscape Division. A key responsibility of the team is to oversee funding programmes and support the ongoing development of the wider media sector in Ireland. Staff Medical Scientist For The National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Laboratory
Staff Grade Medical Scientist for the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Laboratory (NNBSL) Purpose of the Role: Newborn bloodspot screening is an integral part of the Irish health service. It is a complex process ensuring that all babies born in hospital or in the community are offered screening for a number of inherited or congenital disorders and followed up until the screening process is completed and baby is referred to the appropriate clinical team such that onward testing and appropriate clinical management can be commenced. Heel prick screening The methodologies currently used in the laboratory include mass spectrometry, immunoassay, flurometry and molecular testing. The purpose of this post is to provide a safe, efficient, quality laboratory service in conjunction with other Medical Scientists, to satisfy the needs and requirements of service users (newborns) whose samples are tested as part of the Irish National Newborn Screening Programme. The post holder is required to perform scientific work in the laboratory under the supervision of senior colleagues. She/he will carry out routine analyses, participate in implementing new methods and will actively participate in the laboratory quality management system to ISO15189 standards The successful candidate may be required to work across CHI sites and services in line with organisational requirements and the development of the new children’s hospital and associated services in the validation and commissioning period. Mallow General Hospital is a Model 2 within the South West Region. Mallow General Hospital is a 95 bed Acute General Hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and day patient services. The hospital has ongoing planned outpatient infrastructure development for 2026. The services provided in the hospital include – general medicine, cardiology, respiratory, gerontology and gastro-enterology, In patient medical activity is supported by a Medical Assessment Unit and a High Dependency Unit. Mallow General Hospital also provides elective day surgery/procedures to include general, vascular ent , urology, and Endoscopy, There is an Injuries Unit, and an Outpatient department, Physiotherapy, and Radiology including CT scanning services and ultra sound scan. Specialist and Advanced Practice Nursing includes Cardiology, Respiratory, Sleep, Haemovigilance, Infection Control ,Older Adult, Tissue Viability , Obesity, Dementia and Injury Mallow General Hospital Injury Unit (IU) was established during reconfiguration of hospital services following publication of the Smaller Hospitals Framework (HSE 2013a). The IU Mallow General Hospital is one of 3 Injury Units within the Emergency Care Network (ECN) of Cork University Hospitals Group. The IU is open 8am-8pm 7 days a week. The RANP (Injury Unit) scope of clinical practice involves the management of non-life and non-limb threatening conditions, commonly known as minor injuries or ambulatory care (HSE 2012; 2013b). The RANP scope of practice directly mirrors that of the Injury Unit scope agreed at national level under the National Emergency Medicine Programme (HSE 2012). The following is an example not an exhaustive list of clinical presentations included in the scope of practice for this role. Details of the Service Cork University Hospital is the largest single multi-speciality hospital in Ireland. It is the only Level 1 Trauma Hospital in Ireland. Regional specialities include neurosurgery, plastics and burns, cystic fibrosis and cardiac surgery. It is the centre in Cork City and county for trauma orthopaedics. CUH is the largest multi-specialty site in the country. CUH physiotherapy department has a staff of over 90 WTE providing services across inpatients, outpatients & outreach. The Physiotherapy Department provides physiotherapy care within Cork University Hospital, St. Finbarr’s Hospital Rehabilitation Unit, Westfield Integrated Care –ICPOP and Cork University Maternity Hospital. Physiotherapy plays an integral role in the multidisciplinary team. The service also provides weekend and on-call services (respiratory and mobility) under specific criteria. The post holder will be required to participate in this. Flexibility will be required with regard to the working week as the post holder may be required to give classes/cover clinics in the evening and at weekends. Purpose of the Post There is currently a vacancy for 1 WTE Clinical Specialist in Neurosciences within the Physiotherapy Department in CUH.
