Senior Library Assistant
The Role: The role of the Senior Library Assistant is to provide support to staff and senior staff within the Library Service. Senior Library Assistants are a vital link in the team which promotes the library as a focal point for cultural events, community development and learning and as a digital hub. The Senior Library Assistant shall perform such duties as may from time to time be assigned to them in relation to their employment and as may be appropriate to any particular function of any local authority for which the Chief Executive is responsible and carry out such instructions as may be given in relation to the performance of your duties. The postholder shall, if required, act for an employee of a higher level. The postholder may be required to work outside your normal job description from time to time. The duties of the Senior Library Assistant will be consistent with the provision of a modern 21st century public library service that is responsive to the changing requirements of customers of all ages and abilities. The duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time, without changing the general character of the duties or level of responsibilities entailed. The duties may include but are not limited to: Superannuation Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012: New members joining the Public Sector on or after 1st January, 2013 will be required to join the Single Public Service Pension Scheme. The Single Scheme applies to all pensionable first-time entrants to the Public Service as well as to former public servants returning to the public service after a break of more than 26 weeks. A rate of PRSI contribution will be required of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 3% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependant or qualified children). This includes a contribution to a Spouse’s and Children’s Scheme. Pension and retirement lump sum based on career-average pay pensions will be co-ordinated with the State Pension Contributory (SPC). For persons who commenced public sector employment prior to 1st January 2013: Persons who become pensionable employees of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependant or qualified children).
Plant Fitter
We are seeking a Plant Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems. Tasks may be emergency, reactive, planned and corrective. Responsibilities: • Carry out the planned preventative maintenance programme. • Conduct regular inspections of mechanical equipment to identify and diagnose faults and wear and tear. • Repair and replace worn or damaged components. • Assemble, install, and test new mechanical systems and equipment. • Fabricate parts and components as needed. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities. • Follow safety procedures and regulations at all times. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide input for equipment upgrades. Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic
Barna Recycling, Connacht’s leading waste management provider, are currently seeking a HGV mechanic to work as part of a team in our workshop at our Carrowbrowne Facility just outside Galway City. Duties & Responsibilities: · To perform routine maintenance on our fleet. · Electrical and engine troubleshooting and diagnostics. · Engine and transmission repairs. · Diagnose faults and malfunctions. · Perform 12 week safety inspections and pretests. · Provide training and advice to apprentices. · Ability to use hand and power tools related to motor vehicle service and repair. · Complete job reports using a computer or tablet. · Maintaining a clean work environment and follow health & safety procedures. · Work on a wide range of vehicles and trailers Skills: · Ability to diagnose malfunctions and faults. · Attention to detail. · Problem solving. · Knowledge of wiring. · Ability to operate diagnostic equipment. · Knowledge of methods of preventive maintenance and general maintenance. · Ability to work on your own and within a team. · Knowledge of waste industry and advantage but not essential.
