Civil Engineer Apprentice
Position Summary The Civil Engineering Apprenticeship Programme is a strategic investment in nurturing and developing engineers within Glanua. Due to the success of the programme, we are looking to recruit more apprentices for the September 2026 programme. Civil Engineering Apprenticeship Programme with ATU Sligo: • 3-year programme to achieve a QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. • Online classes every Monday from 9 am to 6 pm. • Monthly in-person labs/workshops in Sligo. • The remaining duration (Tues to Friday) is dedicated to on the job learning in Glanua. • Course includes regular college assignments and exams after Christmas. Requirements: Good attitude & willingness to learn. • Flexibility to travel to various site. • Eligibility criteria pass grade in Leaving Cert maths or have QQI level 5 (or equivalent). • Must be over 18 years of age. Job Purpose: To support the delivery of digital social innovation solutions and transformational digital projects within the STRIDE programme. The post holder will assist in the development, testing and implementation of digital solutions designed to address key challenges facing rural communities. The role provides a structured graduate development opportunity, enabling the post holder to gain practical experience in digital innovation, project delivery and stakeholder collaboration. Working alongside the Digital Social Innovator and Digital Transformation Projects Lead, the post holder will contribute to digital transformation activities that enhance service delivery, promote digital inclusion and support long-term community sustainability in rural areas. Contract Type: Full Time Fixed Term Contract – 1 year with possible extension. Location: Enniskillen Workhouse However, travel to other campus sites may be required. Campuses are situated in: (Dependant on future developments, the College may reserve the right to relocate staff to other campuses of South West College.) Main Duties and Responsibilities: Support Digital Social Innovators in the development, testing and refinement of digital social innovation solutions within the STRIDE programme. Assist with systems design, software configuration and prototyping activities supporting the development of digital solutions. Support user research, testing and engagement activities with community groups, statutory agencies and partners to inform the development and refinement of digital solutions. Provide delivery-level support to transformational digital projects delivered in collaboration with consortium partners. Assist with the development, testing and piloting of digital prototypes supporting project delivery. Support the coordination of technical inputs across project partners as required. Maintain and update technical documentation and digital assets associated with solution development and project outputs. Support the uploading, structuring and maintenance of digital solutions and resources on the STRIDE Empowering Communities Portal. Assist in the preparation of technical summaries, user guidance and supporting materials for digital solutions. Support the collection and organisation of evidence relating to solution development and programme outputs, including technical case studies and reporting requirements. Participate in cross-border project meetings, workshops, demonstrations and knowledge exchange activities with community, statutory and consortium partners. Provide assistance in The Workhouse office and administration duties including reception cover, dealing with visitor and business user queries and providing event and meeting support.
