Role Overview MACS Floating Support and Outreach services provide a range of interventions to assist young people aged 16–25 to access or maintain accommodation in the community. The team of workers provide support to young people who are homeless, young people “sofa surfing”, at risk of eviction, and resettling from prison. The Referral Coordinator will support the referral process from pre-entry to post-exit. They will be responsible for processing referrals in a professional, sensitive, and timely manner in line with MACS procedures and processes, underpinned by MACS policies and operating in line with strategic priorities, vision, mission, and values. This Job Description outlines the job role, duties, and responsibilities as follows: User, Stakeholder and Community Engagement • First point of contact for receiving referrals for all MACS Floating Support and Outreach services. • Manage the referral process and waiting list for MACS Floating Support and Outreach services. • Complete all referral administration, including recording and storing data accurately and securely in line with data protection legislation. • Provide a supportive, calm, and professional approach while interacting with referrals via various communication methods. • Proactively progress waiting lists for services in line with operational procedures. • Maintain contact and provide support to young people on waiting lists. • Highlight any concerns regarding risk for individual referral pathways to the line manager for guidance and decision-making. • Support onward referral processes for young people being externally signposted to specialist services. • Ensure compliance with organisational safeguarding and risk management procedures. • Manage and review SHARP external database and internal databases on a monthly basis, ensuring client information is accurate and up to date. • Provide monthly reports to the Head of Service outlining young people activity, referral trends, and waiting lists. • Participate in all relevant internal and external meetings related to service development and operations. Learning and Development • Engage in reflection, personal and professional development individually and as part of the team. • Prepare for and participate in monthly supervision and team meetings to work on agreed targets alongside the Line Manager. • Prepare and update Learning and Development plans in relation to team and individual training needs. • Contribute to the induction and support of new staff. Governance • Adhere to MACS Policies and Procedures, including Safeguarding and Lone Working, and comply with NISCC standards of conduct and practice. • Work effectively within a team, ensuring information is communicated with young people and external agencies. • Ensure all recordings and communication comply with statutory requirements, MACS policies, and GDPR guidelines. • Communicate information in a timely and appropriate manner in line with GDPR guidelines. • Be proactive in service development, network with external agencies, and promote the profile of MACS. • Maintain awareness and involvement in team budget management and identify funding sources to meet the needs of young people (e.g., grants, Social Security). Other Duties • Undertake any other duties required to ensure the effective, safe delivery and development of services. • Be flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of young people and the service, always putting young people first. Grounds Person
Salary Scale 3 SCP 7–9 £26,403 – £27,254 per annum (pro rata). Irregular hours or shift allowance may be earned. Hours 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm). The post holder may be required to work additional hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Job Purpose The post holder will work as a member of the outdoor spaces maintenance team under the general direction of a Head Grounds Person or Team Leader. They will be responsible for undertaking both basic and skilled work in parks, playing fields, landscaped areas, and open spaces, either individually or as part of a team. The post holder will be required to work flexibly regarding time, location, and type of work assigned within the Borough in the field of amenity horticulture. This includes the care and maintenance of buildings, sports equipment, sports facilities, general amenity areas, parks, and play areas. They must work diligently, efficiently, and effectively to achieve assigned personal and team tasks to the required quality and within set timescales. The post holder will also be required to develop personal competence in the use of plant and equipment and provide customer care services at parks and sports grounds. Main Duties and Responsibilities Carry out horticultural operations, including planting trees, shrubs, and plants. Carry out grass cutting, hedge cutting, and pruning. Carry out labour associated with soil cultivation, fertiliser spreading, site preparation, and construction labouring. Carry out sports facility maintenance as required, including preparation and construction labouring. Maintain games facilities and areas, including spiking, aeration, scarifying, top-dressing, fertilising, marking of games areas, and erection/dismantling of posts. Load, unload, and move equipment and materials such as mowers, barrows, plants, soil, fertilisers, and other horticultural items. Assist higher-graded gardeners with their work. Open and close park facilities as required, including setting alarms. Maintain the orderly condition of grounds (e.g., sweeping, hoeing, raking, mowing, edging, and removal of litter, rubbish, or illegal dumping). Maintain buildings, including cleaning (sweeping, mopping, dusting) and moving equipment and materials (tables, chairs, machinery). Make decisions on whether to close sports facilities due to adverse weather conditions or vandalism. Use powered hand tools and light plant equipment, including routine maintenance, pre- and post-operational checks, defect reporting, cleaning, and record keeping. Maintain all tools and equipment in satisfactory condition, including cleaning garden tools and basic maintenance of lawnmowers. Carry out administrative duties associated with grounds maintenance work. Supervise the use of parks, sports fields, and facilities, ensuring orderly conduct by the public in line with Council Byelaws, maintaining safety, providing guidance, and handling complaints. Provide training to allocated staff within the competency of the post holder. Drive allocated vehicles as required, including ride-on mowers, tractors, pick-ups, and small vans, ensuring proper care, maintenance, checks, and record keeping. Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of vehicles, plant equipment, and tools, including inspections, defect reporting, and cleaning. Carry out the application of chemical pest control methods under instruction. Assist in the distribution and collection of information through questionnaires and surveys. Undertake duties in other Environmental Services areas (e.g., waste management and cemeteries). Undertake any other relevant duties as required, appropriate to the nature and grade of the post. Experience • At least 12 months’ experience in two or more of the following areas: – Operating a variety of commercial grass-cutting machinery. – Amenity horticulture skills. – Sports ground maintenance.
