The purpose of this post in is to provide Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) and on-going management to patients and their families/carers under the care of OLH&CS. The aim of the role is to provide for the seamless care of this patient cohort and will involve strong clinical component together with a liaison role with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), speciality services and community services as appropriate to the care of the patient and their family / carers. The staff nurse will work as a key member of the Consultant led Inter-disciplinary team providing physical, psychological, social and emotional support to the patient and their family /carers as appropriate to patient need. Essential Requirements Qualifications: · Registered General Nurse with NMBI · Must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development. · A recognised post registration certificate in palliative care. Experience: · A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an acute/relevant area. · A minimum of 1-year specialist palliative care experience. The Social Care Worker role is to support the person in all aspects of their life focusing on the individual’s ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times. The Social Care Worker will assist and support people who use the service with development of their individual person centred plans and the achievement of associated outcomes, and critically, will support people who use the service to make informed choices and fulfil their potential. They will encourage participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking, seek opportunities for new experiences and encourage positive risk taking in leading to informed choices. The successful candidate will provide leadership and supervision at a local level, ensuring the service delivered is person-centred. Qualifications: All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster. The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time), i.e. 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Remuneration: Department of Health Social Care Worker salary scale as at 01/03/2025 apply: €39,951 x 11 increments - €55,049 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). Clinical Nurse Manager, Emergency And Acute Care, University Hospital
Details of Service Cork University Hospital (CUH) has approximately 800 beds and this will increase further to 1,000 beds on completion of the transfer of additional services to the CUH campus. CUH currently employs approximately 4,571 (WTE) staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in University College Cork (UCC). UCC is the Academic partner of the South/South West Hospital Group. CUH has very strong relationships with each of the six schools within the Science Faculty of UCC and this is a key area for future development to maximise the opportunities for both the service and academia. CUH is a recommended Major Trauma Centre for the Republic of Ireland due to the wide range of specialties delivered by the hospital – including Neurosciences, Cardiac Services, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neonatology and Emergency Medicine. CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of approx. 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.2 million. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance, while also bringing decision-making closer to the frontline. Health Regions will enable and empower staff to provide services that are: • Integrated, locally planned and delivered • Easier to access and navigate • Available closer to home Health Regions are geographically-based units with clearly defined populations.
