Workshop Technician
Main Duties and Responsibilities To prepare workshop materials for use by lecturers and trainees. To organise tools and materials for trainees in an orderly and tidy manner. To maintain all equipment in a safe and secure environment. To practice good stock control including ordering, receipt, storage and issuing of all tools and materials. To check requisitions against documentation when received and comply with ‘Agresso’ requirements. To assist lecturers during practical classes and maintain a level of supervision and support at all times. To carry out regular routine checks on equipment to ensure any problems are noted and reported to the designated person so appropriate action is taken. Ensure accurate records for equipment checks and maintenance are available at all times, using the correct proformas. To carry out minor repairs to equipment as and when required and when properly trained to do so. To be proactive in Health & Safety issues relating to the section and across the wider College. Assist staff in the development and maintenance of safe working practices and procedures. Adopt a ‘Safety first’ approach to your own work and report any potential risks or hazards immediately. To assist with the distribution of Personal Protective Clothing as and when required and take responsibility for the maintenance of accurate stock records. To co-ordinate lockers, including distribution and return of keys to tutors and students. To participate in staff and personal development as and when required. Ensure all mandatory CPD is kept up to date and within the timelines identified by your line Manager or the Health and Safety Manager. To undertake or support the supervision of students within the teaching areas as necessary. To drive College vehicles between campuses if required. To undertake any other reasonable duties designated by Head of Department, Deputy Head of Department, Curriculum Manager, Campus Manager, Health and Safety Manager or direct Line Manager. NB: Outside of term time the post holder may be asked to perform general maintenance duties or support any wider college functions as required and take part in any staff rotas to provide adequate cover at key times of the academic year or when a need has arisen, directed by the Line Manager, Head of Department or Principal & Chief Executive. Senior Pharmacy Technician
Senior Pharmacy Technician – Full-time, Permanent Responsibilities: · To work collaboratively with other members of the Pharmacy team and Departments in the Hospital to ensure that patient care is central to all activities of the Pharmacy Department. · To be fully aware of and comply with the codes of practice of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and the Mental Health Commission. · To have full knowledge of and competently use the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures and to contribute to development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures. · To perform the following dispensary duties: I. Dispense in-patient, out-patient, weekend -leave and staff prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. II. Dispense ward stock lists. III. Co-ordinate dispensary workflow. IV. Co-ordinate medication ordering in a cost-efficient manner. V. Co-ordinate stock management processes including storage, returns, recycling, dispensary lay-out, medication waste and sustainability. VI. Ensure compliance with Falsified Medicines Directive and associated processes. VII. Co-ordinate out-of-hours trolley, first aid kits, emergency trays, patients’ own medicines.

QUALIFICATIONS CHARACTER Candidates shall be of good character HEALTH Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, ETC. Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms have – (a) (i) A qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major awards (i.e. honours degree) or higher in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) plus 2 years directly relevant, recent experience. OR (ii) A qualification at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major awards (i.e. honours degree) with Geographic Information Systems taken in the final year and at least 3 years directly relevant, recent experience. OR (iii) A qualification at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major awards (i.e. ordinary degree) or higher in Geographic Information Systems plus 3 years directly relevant, recent experience. OR (iv) A qualification at Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) plus at least 4 years directly relevant, recent experience. and (b) Have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire such knowledge. PERSON PROFILE DUTIES: The duties of the post shall be to give to the local authority under the direction and supervision of its appropriate employee, such services of an executive, supervisory and advisory nature as are required for the exercise and performance of any of its powers and duties and shall include the duty of deputising for other employees of the local authority, when required, and such duties as may be required in relation to the area of any other local authority. The key duties and responsibilities of the post include but are not limited to, the following: • Creation, updating and maintenance of Planning GIS databases specific to the preparation, monitoring and review of the Development Plan and local area plans. • Graphic production of a wide range of maps and diagrams to be published as part of the Development Plan and local area plans (e.g., land use zoning, spatially defined objectives, infrastructural networks etc.). • Creation, updating and maintenance of the planning registers; planning applications, exempted developments, part 8 and 9 developments, by ensuring that data entry is in the correct format. • Preparation of datasets to be sent to the Department websites, e.g., Myplan. • Data collection and research for development plans. • Surveys of land use, vacant properties and services of towns and villages. • Preparation of mapping and graphic design in development plans. • Conversion of GIS layers into other formats, e.g., AutoCAD, Google Earth, Mapinfo. • Research and preparation of charts, diagrams, and maps for publications by Wexford County Council e.g. URDF / RRDF applications. • Assist with the implementation of both Internal and External MapViewers. • Liaise with other departments, members of the public and external agencies in relation to operational aspects of assigned work. • Preparation of public consultation display material and assistance at public consultation. • Manage work flows and produce regular progress reports on all aspects of area of responsibility. • Operate the appropriate technology as required to carry out the work to which he/she has been assigned e.g. CAD, Graphics, PowerPoint. • Maintain and update, on an ongoing basis, existing mapping and GIS datasets as required. • Transform GIS Data into different formats and re-project using FME. • Support the use of standards and best practices in regard to metadata and data cataloguing. • Production and use of map services and datasets from external organisations such as Ordnance Survey Ireland, Environmental Protection Agency, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Geological Survey of Ireland. • ArcGIS desktop and ArcGIS Pro map creation, printing, user support. • Provide training and support in GIS related software and systems to Council staff. • Provide training and support to the public on all public-facing GIS systems. • Any other duties which may be assigned. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Tenure: The post, whether temporary or permanent, is whole-time and pensionable. Persons who become pensionable employees of a Local Authority who are liable to pay Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the Local Authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependent or qualified children). All persons who become pensionable employees of a Local Authority will be required in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Children’s Contributory Pension) Scheme to contribute to the Local Authority at the rate of 1.5% of their net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependent or qualified children) in accordance with the terms of the Scheme. For new entrants under the Single Public Service Pension Scheme effective from 01/01/2013, superannuation contributions are 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration and 3% of pensionable remuneration. Probation: Where a person who is not already a permanent employee of Wexford County Council is appointed, the following provisions shall apply: (a) There shall be a period after such appointment takes effect during which such person shall hold such employment on probation; (b) Such period shall be 6 months, but the Chief Executive may, at his discretion, extend such period; (c) Such person shall cease to hold such employment at the end of the period of probation, unless during such period the Chief Executive has certified that the service of such person is satisfactory. Salary: The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. Holders of the post shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies (other than their inclusive salary) payable to or received by them by virtue of their employment or in respect of services which they are required by or under any enactment to perform. An allowance may also be payable in respect of travel expenses and subsistence. €52,761 - €63,109 (LSI 2) (from 1st June 2026) Entry point to this scale will be determined in accordance with Circulars issued by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government. Appointees who are not existing public servants will enter at the minimum point of the scale. Health: For the purpose of satisfying the requirement as to health, it will be necessary for successful candidates, before being appointed, to undergo at their expense, a medical examination by a qualified medical practitioner to be nominated by the local authority. Defects reported as a result of this examination must be remedied before appointment. On taking up appointment, the expense of the medical examination will be refunded to the candidate. Retirement/Superannuation Single Public Service Pension Scheme: Effective from 1st January, 2013, The Single Public Service Pension Scheme applies to all first-time new entrants to the public service, as well as to former public servants returning to the public service after a break of more than 26 weeks. All new entrants to pensionable public service employment on or after 1 January, 2013 are, in general, members of the Single Scheme. Pension Age: Minimum pension age of 66 years (rising to 67 and 68 in line with State Pension age changes). Scheme Members must retire at the age of 70 years. New entrants to the public service appointed on or after 1st April, 2004. Retirement Age will be determined by the terms of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004. The Act introduces new retirement provisions for new entrants to the public service appointed on or after 1st April, 2004. For new entrants there is no compulsory retirement age and 65 is the earliest age at which retirement benefits can be paid. In all other cases, 60 years is the minimum retirement age, with 70 years being the maximum retirement age. Driving Licence When required to do so holders of the office may be required to drive a motor car in the course of their duties and should therefore, hold a full driving licence for Class B vehicles free from endorsement and disqualification. Residence The holder of the post shall reside in the district in which his/her duties are to be performed, or within a reasonable distance thereof.
Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice
Profile of Craft Core Skills Carpentry & Joinery Construction The Trade of Carpentry & Joinery is very wide and varied, it encompasses most of the skills required by the Wood Trades. These skills required of the Carpenter & Joiner are not confined to those required to work in wood but include skills in the use of metals, plastics and fabrics. The Carpenter & Joiner is also required to work in a cross section of domains within the overall trade. The following are some examples: Joinery Shop: This section of the occupation requires the Carpenter & Joiner to engage in setting out, production and assembling items of joinery which include stairs, doors, windows and built-in furniture. Site Work: Site work is the construction of buildings or houses which require 1st fixing, formwork roofs and 2nd fixing. This section is split into two categories, constructing/civil engineering contracts. Maintenance: Maintenance work requires the Carpenter & Joiner to carry out a variety of tasks in general maintenance and upkeep of public and private buildings, e.g. shops and factories. There are other areas associated with the trade which include: renovating buildings, shopfitting, exhibition/display work.
