The Role: The Area Manager will be responsible for the development and overall management of the Bruach na Mara Adult Services in the West Sector. The Area Manager will ensure the day to day management of the service area, will reflect the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland, and will foster and promote this vision in their relationships with the people supported by the services, their families, staff members, and the wider community. Reporting/Responsible to: Sector Manager, Adult West Sector. Qualifications/Experience: • A nursing qualification, RNID/RNMH is an advantage and must be currently registered with the NMBI or a relevant third level qualification in the Health/Social Care Sector. Candidates must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU on or before 30th November 2025. Proficient in ICT skills with a good working knowledge of IT systems. Working Hours: 75 hours a fortnight. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm over seven days to meet the requirements of the programme. The roster varies in order to meet the needs of the service and accordingly you are required to be flexible in regard to your working hours. Participation in on call roster is an essential part of this post. There is an expectation that a Manager at this level will interface with external agencies and attend meetings outside of normal working hours, positively promoting the work of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. Purpose of the Role The purpose of this post is to lead and co-ordinate the established Infection Prevention and Control Nursing Team (IPCT) and will be responsible, with the DON IPC and the Consultant Microbiologist(s) for co-ordinating, providing and maintaining comprehensive IPC in the organisation. To enhance patient care by developing servicesrelating to the prevention and control of infection and to assist overall in optimising quality and continuity of care. The post holder will work collaboratively with the CNM3 in the Crumlin site (governance over Crumlin and Tallaght), to ensure that there is CNM3 cover across sites. The post of CNM3 has a pivotal role in the service planning, development, co-ordinating and managing activity and resources within the IPCT. The CNM3’s responsibilities include: - Overseeing the quality of nursing care - The development, implementation and auditing of IPC policies and procedures, based on evidence based best practice in line with national standards and best practice - The monitoring and recording of activity and delivery of agreed levels of service. - Managing the implementation of the National Standards relating to IPC, including the HIQA National Standards for the prevention and control of healthcare- associated infections. An essential role of the IPCT role is to cover the specialist area of IPC. To foster a culture of co-operation with all departments to ensure that the National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare associated infections are fulfilled (HIQA). It will be the responsibility of the CMN3 to lead the implementation, organisational gap analysis and auditing of the National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare associated infections. The successful candidate will be required to lead on and implement agreed IPC programmes. The post holder will develop, plan and co-ordinate in collaboration with the responsible clinical teams in conjunction with the CCNE training and development programmes as required. They also play a key role in providing clinical and professional leadership and promoting the values of the organisation. Essential Criteria: 1. Within the 4 Integrated Health Areas there are 9 acute hospital (model 4s and 3s, mix of statutory and voluntary providers) delivering a full range of acute hospital, women and children’s services, in addition to specialised radiation and oncology care. There are also 6 integrated care hubs/csts and 20 Community Health Networks who together will serve the population health needs of our area. The reform programme for HSE Dublin and Midlands provides an opportunity to shape the future of health and social care in a rapidly changing environment and to continue to implement safer better health care through integrated services. Health Regions will be the primary service coordination and delivery units for the vast majority of health and social care services provided across Ireland. They will provide the governance and organisational arrangements to enable planning, management and delivery of care for people and for communities across their region.
