Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area. Applications are invited for the following:- PERSON IN CHARGE Ref: 19/2025 Social Care Manager 1 / Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) GRADE Permanent Full-Time (39 /37.5 hours per week) Location: Adults Residential Services, Cork City/suburbs The Purpose The post holder will ensure that each person supported is supported through a person centred approach ensuring their rights are respected at all times. May take on the duties of Person in Charge for a designated centre. Post graduate training in Positive Behaviour Support is desirable Be flexible to meet the requirements of the service Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility is essential Have experience of using alternative communication methods is essential Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is desirable Have experience of using a person centered planning system is essential. Be computer literate including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems Driving Licence Candidates must possess a full driving licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as it is essential for the roles. 3. Age * Public Servants not affected by this legislation: Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age. Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70. 4. Clinical Midwife/nurse Manager, University Maternity Hospital
Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) is a 150 bedded Tertiary Referral Centre for Maternity, Neonatology and Gynaecology located on the campus of Cork University Hospital. CUMH incorporates the Obstetric, Gynaecology, Paediatric and Neonatology Services in the Cork University Hospital Group within the Health Service Executive Southern West region. CUMH has approximately 7, 000 births per annum and is a tertiary referral centre. Services at CUMH are delivered within the HSE South West region which is based on the principles of partnership and integration and strongly supports the involvement of the multidisciplinary team in service provision. CUMH is the site for clinical placements for student midwives and student nurses in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes delivered in partnership with University College Cork. CUMH Services incorporates the use of the MN-CMS (Maternal Newborn Clinical Management System) into care delivered at CUMH. There are four Maternity Units in the South/South West Hospital Group – University Hospital Waterford, University Hospital Kerry, Cork University Maternity Hospital and South Tipperary General Hospital - spanning four of the largest counties in the country. Maternity Services includes Neonatology and Gynaecology as well as Midwifery and Obstetrics. The Group’s Primary Academic partner is University College Cork. A wide range of educational programmes and research is conducted within all hospitals in the Group. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population-specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance, while also bringing decision-making closer to the frontline. Overall Purpose of the Post: The post-holder will assist in the co-ordination of the Community Paediatric Clinics and other identified clinics within the regional CHO4 Physical Disability Support Service to facilitate the smooth and efficient functioning of each clinic. The post holder will also provide a wide range of administration supports to the clinics. The role may include other administrative tasks and responsibilities as identified by the PDSS Co-Ordinator, Children’s Services Manager or designate. Duties: • Provide administrative supports for identified clinics before, during and after the clinics as required. • Facilitate in scheduling clinics including management of cancellations, postponed appointments etc. • Support the intake process for identified clinics, liaising with relevant personnel both within the organisation and in external organisations and hospitals. • Record information on and maintain accurate databases to manage the relevant information pertaining to clinics. • Scheduling of appointments for clinics and communication with service users and other stakeholders regarding same. • Preparation of clinic space prior to clinics, ensuring that required equipment is available. • Participate in management of office supplies for clinic purposes. • Provide typing services and work with identified software for processing of medical letters and records. • Provide typing services to ensure full MDT, relevant clinicians and families receive timely communications. • Assist with the preparation of files as requested under FOI and GDPR • Become proficient in the use of the Enable Ireland Service User database – Goldmine and other relevant databases • Ensure files are prepared for the scheduled clinics. • Liaising with CDNT administrators regarding clinic files and service user records (hard and soft copies). • Maintain effective filing and archiving (hard and soft copies) of all Service/Service User records. • Process and issue consent packs as appropriate ensuring GDPR policy is followed • Process outgoing and incoming post (i.e. logging same in database, distributing incoming post etc) • Maintain efficient office practices, showing initiative to suggest improvements to support the efficient workings of the clinics. • Collation of data and preparation and compilation of reports as required. • Keep Children’s Services Management appraised of clinic activity as required. • Provide reception/switchboard support and front of house support to the service. • Complete tasks with a high level of attention to detail. • Understand and work within Enable Ireland’s code of confidentiality. Training and Development: • To participate in training programs and other developmental needs as identified by the Physical Disability Support Service Co-ordinator, Children’s Services Manager, Director of Services or Enable Ireland. • To co-ordinate identified clinical training when required, inform participants and manage the waitlist for same. Health & Safety: • Support the promotion of health and safety and risk management across the service including the development and monitoring of policies and procedures and compliance with same. • Participate in accurate and timely health and safety reporting as required. • Participate in local health and safety initiatives and training as required. Ensure that effective safety procedures are in place in the execution of the duties of the post to comply not only with the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work Act but also with Enable Ireland’s policies and procedures. The Clinical experience requirements for this cohort of nurses/midwives remain consistent with the DoH (2019) policy i.e. a minimum of 1 years’ experience in practice and a minimum a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the specialist area and they could be supported to progress on a candidate CNS/CMD pathway. All of the above must be achieved for this pathway failure to successfully achieve essential requirements within 2-year timeframe will result in termination of the cCNS role and the candidate will return to a previously held post or will be re-deployed within the organisation AND (b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. 2. Annual registration (i) Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) for the role.
