Clinical Nurse Manager, Resuscitation Training Officer
Purpose of the Role The Resuscitation Officer (RTO) will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the Resuscitation Service within CHI and cross-site with CHI Tallaght and CHI Connolly. This will involve planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation of all Basic and Advanced life support training for appropriate personnel. A core responsibility will be the supervision and training of the multidisciplinary team in resuscitation and in particular, training on identification and responding to the clinically deteriorating patient to prevent cardiac arrest, and on general resuscitation issues in line with International, national and local strategy and service priorities. The post holder will act as an expert in resuscitation where appropriate, providing advice on an all aspects of resuscitation training, education and practice. The Resuscitation Training Officer (RTO) will be responsible for the supervision, review and audit of resuscitation procedures. The RTO will work with colleagues to create good working relationships that promote teamwork, innovation and encourages motivation and high standards of resuscitation practice, high quality care and patient safety. Neonatal Transport Fellowship
The ideal candidate will have: • A minimum of 12 month's experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Paediatric trainee. • A high degree of competence in the technical procedures related to NICU patients, including endotracheal intubation, cannulation of umbilical vessels and peripheral veins and arteries, and emergency drainage of pneumothoraces. • Ability to demonstrate independent expertise in the assessment and management of critically ill babies, including expert resuscitation skills. • Good understanding of transport specific equipment. Qualifications & Experience • Successful completion of MRCPI examinations or equivalent is desirable. • Minimum of 12 months’ experience in Level 3 NICU as a Paediatric trainee. • Previous neonatal critical care transport experience is essential. • Knowledge of the Irish health care structure is desirable. Overview of the position • The key area of responsibility is to provide medical care during primary neonatal retrievals. Fellow is expected to be primarily scheduled for transport duties within the current agreed usual working hours as outlined by local and national regulations. • The Fellow may provide back up support in NICU when not out on retrievals. Outside of the National Maternity Hospital/Coombe “transport weeks”, the Fellow may participate in the work within acute inpatient departmental setting or on board of the NNTP Critical Care Vehicles as tasked by Neonatal Transport Consultant. During this time, the Fellow is expected to progress their research project. Fellows do not participate on OPD workflow. • Position is currently not accredited for training by the RCPI; however, NNTP seeks this accreditation in the view of proposed Irish Neonatal-Perinatal training scheme. This post is generally suitable as a standalone post outside of an HMT scheme. • Salary is in accordance with current HSE pay scales for Registrars. Rosters conform with the principles of safe working hours. There will be a requirement for on-call duty. • Nights and weekends on duty for NNTP are currently non-resident (provided the post-holder resides within 30 minutes of base). Nights and weekend on duty for Rotunda/National Maternity Hospital/Coombe NICU (optional) are resident as per established hospital practices.
