Watersports Development Officer
Salary: Scale SO2 SCP 27–29 £38,220 - £39,862 per annum. Hours: 37 hours per week. The post holder will be required to work outside normal hours including Bank Holidays, evenings and weekends and will be required to respond to out-of-hours enquiries to facilitate the needs of the Service. Rota subject to change. JOB PURPOSE Committing to the one-team ethos, you will be flexible and collaborative and you will actively support all colleagues and other activities necessary to deliver the service objectives. Responsible for the efficient delivery of the diverse range of services, including the management of staff, facilities, resources and Health & Safety. Responsible for developing and promoting the centre activities and services in line with the corporate plan, ensuring customer focus, quality of provision and best value, including working with key stakeholders in the community to deliver health and wellbeing programmes. Responsible for the management, supervision and training of specialist staff in the watersports and other areas of South Lakes. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To develop partnerships with external stakeholders, community groups and agencies to maximise Council health and wellbeing corporate objectives. To manage, train and supervise a diverse range of staff, ensuring training is fully compliant with delivery standards. To be responsible for the promotion of all outdoor and watersports activities across the Council, including sessional activities and promotional events. To develop business opportunities in the wider ABC Council locality, utilising the resources and infrastructure, lakes and waterways. To facilitate, organise and promote various working groups and key stakeholder engagement meetings, including chairing and presenting key Council objectives. To be responsible for Health & Safety compliance with staff, visitors, members of the public and contractors, ensuring all safe systems of work, risk assessments and procedures have been implemented, including the provision of staff training and record keeping. To be responsible for the safe operation of equipment and resources, safeguarding Council assets, including financial procedures, record keeping and inventory lists. As part of the management and operations team, develop business plans, help deliver a one-team ethos, including staff development, training and motivational interviewing. To be flexible, collaborative and actively support the team and other activities or processes which impact on the performance of the centre. To respond to routine and serious incidents and emergencies, coordinating with the full range of emergency services to achieve a resolution and ensure all relevant Health & Safety procedures and follow-up investigations are completed. Respond to out-of-hours emergencies, as requested. Qualifications and Training Working Arrangements / Flexibility 37 hours per week on a rota basis.
