Hydro Team Member - Electrical & Instrumentation
Position Description This is an opportunity to work as part of a leading-edge team in Ireland’s Ardnacrusha hydropower generating station and on the Shannon Scheme. We have been generating electricity on the Shannon since 1929. The station team plays a pivotal role in ensuring Ardnacrusha’s safety, commercial and technical performance is optimised. ESB Ardnacrusha Station has 3 Francis turbines and 1 Kaplan Type Turbine, 4 generators (G1 – G4: rated at 21MW, 22MW, 19MW and 24MW respectively) and responsibility for all the associated dams, weirs, gates, and civil structures associated with the Shannon hydroelectric scheme. The Hydro Team Member – Electrical & Instrumentation will work as part of the Hydro team based in the station. They will be required to work across all functional areas including maintenance, operations, technical services, civil, supervision and contractor management. This role is a great opportunity to contribute to the landmark Ardnacrusha scheme, bringing and developing technical expertise as part of a strong engineering team. The successful candidate will be required to work to the level of their competence to carry out their duties and will undergo training to maintain their competency. They will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels. Out-of-hours support for the stations will be a feature of the role as required. Position Description Within the ESB Group, ESB Trading is a leading Irish wholesale energy trading business, active in both the Irish and GB energy markets as well as European commodities markets delivering delivers essential asset optimisation services, risk management and wholesale market access solutions. We are currently seeking to recruit a Contracts Negotiator. The Contracts Negotiator reports into the Contracts Manager. The Forward Trading Team consists of the Forward Trading Desk Head, 4 traders, Contracts Manager and Contracts Negotiator. The desk is actively involved in wholesale energy trading in the UK, European and Irish markets. The primary function of the team is the hedging of the gross margin for ESBs thermal and renewable fleet of generation in line with current trading and risk policy and the procurement of physical fuel supply. In addition, the team will also conduct the day-to-day trading requirements of ESB Trading in line with its trading strategy. This will include execution of asset optimisation strategies, fuel procurement policies and power hedging activities. The successful candidate will work with a wide variety of electrical equipment and control and instrumentation equipment. This is an opportunity for ambitious, high performing person to work in a dynamic, rewarding and achievement focussed environment. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible and be a self-starter with the ability to provide support, on a full or part time basis, to other teams and projects as required by station management. Network Designer - Customer Delivery
Position Description The Network Designer (Engineering Officer) is responsible for providing safe network designs within your discipline. These design packs will be used by ESB Networks staff and/or contractors as per Work Programs to carry out work safely on the Electricity Network. The designs shall be carried out in line with relevant standards set down by ESB Network Assets and adhering to Company Standards. Depending upon the specific role assignment this design work can be related to domestic, commercial and industrial new or increased customer connections. In addition, the design work may be associated with the Capital Work Programmes including line design from LV to 38kV and underground design. All design work is required to be completed in a timely manner and in line with the ESB design standards & guidelines and ensuring that ESB Networks Customer Charter standards are adhered to. The role includes managing your own design workload. The successful candidate will have the ability to work on his / her own initiative but also as part of a larger design team and will be required to follow schedules set down by their design manager.
