BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION PERMANENT PART-TIME 4 x PERMANENT PART-TIME COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKERS TURAS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES JOB REF: 84266 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Temporary and Permanent Community Support Worker appointments may be made over the next 6 months. Location: TURAS Family & Community Services is a community-based service based in Galway City, with a satellite service in the Ballinasloe and Tuam area. The service provides supports to children whom have varying abilities. We are primarily a community based service and are looking to gradually expand the geographical areas, in where we operate satellite services from. The posts will be located in Galway City and surrounding areas. The Role: The Community Support Workers role is exciting and innovative. This support is an alternative form of respite for families. As a Community Support Worker, you will be assigned a caseload where you will be providing support to a number of children and their families. In this role, you will be required to work as part of a team, as well as on your own initiative, and become an advocate for each child and family you are supporting. The role will involve supporting children that use our services, to actively participate in their communities where possible, promote community integration, social inclusion and life skills development. In this role, there may be identified goals to focus your supports on, which will work towards the model of community and social inclusivity. There may also be identified goals around supporting the child to participate in leisure and recreational activities, or assisting them in socialising in group situations with their peers. The Community Support Worker role within Turas Family and Community services, can take the form of after school supports, school holiday supports and Saturday clubs. There may be duties around providing personal care and following behaviour support plans. As part of the role you will be liaising with members of the Children’s Disability Network Teams and adhering to Brothers of Charity Services Ireland-West region policies and procedures in how the service operates. All employees will be required to support individuals to lead a full and valued life, and have the needs of each child and family, at the forefront of how the service operates. Qualifications/Experience/Skills: Essential: Working Hours: All posts are 50 hours a fortnight based on a 14 day duty roster to include working days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours in order to ensure the provision of high quality services for each individual Annual Leave: 22 days pro-rata per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant salary scale (01/03/2025) - €33,699 x 11 increments - €46,190 (Max) pro- rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €46,984 pro-rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – West Region, Children’s Services provide Centre-based respite and community-based outreach services using a person-centered approach to meet the needs of children with Intellectual Disabilities. The vision of the service is to support children to achieve a full and valued life in their local community. Our aim is to provide a quality service that promotes the independence and potential of each individual we support at all stages of their lives. The Role: The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of services. The CNM1/SCL must provide leadership in the development of the service in line with Personal Outcomes Measures and future service requirements. The CNM1/SCL must be familiar with Tusla Childcare regulations 2016 and be the person in charge of the service, Ensuring the holistic wellbeing of children and have excellent communication skills linking with families and members of the MDT. Location: Lean Ar Aghaidh Early childhood service is located in Roxboro Roscommon. It provides a specialised preschool service to children between the ages of 3 to 5 years with an Intellectual disability; some children may have an additional physical disability, complex medical, Sensory or behavioural needs. Reporting/Responsible to: Service Coordinator / Sector Manager. Working With: · Children and families; · Educators, Teachers, Special Needs Assistants and Support Workers; · Children’s Disability Network Teams; · Outreach Team. Qualifications: Experience: Candidates must have at least 3 years post qualification experience. Experience of working with Children is desirable. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of leading and supporting a team. Candidates must demonstrate leadership and planning skills, along with the ability to set, action and follow through with identifying goals for each individual child in partnership with parents. Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion, confidentiality, be creative, self-motivated, communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy. Candidates must promote a welcoming positive atmosphere for staff, children and visitors who use the building. Candidates must set a quality standard in accordance with Tusla regulations that satisfy inspections. Candidates must have a full clean driving licence. Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate: Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality. The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, and to communicate sensitively with family members and work with them for the best outcomes. Creative problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and seek support from multi-disciplinary colleagues as appropriate. Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities. Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs. The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, individual reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and actively contribute to team-based performance management. Working Hours: 60/78 per fortnight based on a 5-day duty roster. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 25 days pro-rata per annum. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5- and 10-years’ service respectively. Annual leave must be planned in advance with your manager and in line to ensure appropriate/adequate cover is provided for the service.
