About Foróige Foróige is an independent, non-profit national voluntary youth organisation engaged in out-of-school youth development and education. The organisation aims to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and the development of society. Foróige employs over 500 staff and involves thousands of volunteers in the creation and delivery of high-quality services to young people through the operation of over 400 Foróige Clubs, the Big Brother Big Sister Programme and over 190 General Youth Services and Special Projects. These community-based and community-supported initiatives are run throughout the country, in rural and urban environments, and generally in partnership with various voluntary and statutory agencies. Project Information Foróige has recently been funded by Tusla to support young people (10–18 years old) who have fled from the war in Ukraine and young people living in International Protection Accommodation Centres (IPAS). The project will be based in Ashbourne/Drogheda with a catchment area for Louth/Meath and those locations where these young people reside. The project has one full-time (minimum 35 hours) and one part-time (14 hours) position available. The project will engage vulnerable young people in programmes aimed at enhancing their personal and social development outcomes – enhance communication and language, integration, confidence, creativity & imagination, building relationships, resilience & determination and emotional intelligence skills. The project aims to do this through a broad range of creative and vibrant methods working alongside local advocates for the Ukrainian/IPAS communities. The targeted programmes are intended to promote interaction between the Ukrainian/IPAS communities and local youth communities, breaking down cultural barriers and fostering understanding. The programme of work will encourage community engagement, enhanced integration and facilitating greater social connections. The programmes will cater to participants' needs and interests, helping them build a sense of identity and purpose in their new environment, rebuilding their lives and contributing to their new local community. Programmes will be co-designed, at times that suit and be accessible to the target group. The programme will collaborate with other agencies working in this area in order to better enhance the intended outcomes. The Youth Integration Officers will be employed by Foróige and will be given a contract of employment until 31st December 2025. It must be understood however, that if the positions become redundant at any time during the period of the contract or if the funding for the post is discontinued or a post holder fails to perform satisfactorily, employment may be terminated. The Youth Integration Officers' immediate supervisor is the Foróige Senior Youth Officer. Key Responsibilities The duties of the Youth Integration Officers as shall be notified by the Foróige Area Manager/Senior Youth Officer. Club Development Officer
Role Information There is currently a vacancy for a Club Development Officer in the club support team in the Galway/Mayo area. The successful candidate will support a number of Foróige clubs and provide training and programme development services to a larger number of clubs, both existing and in formation, across the counties in consultation with the Regional Youth Officer for each county as outlined in the key responsibilities below. The Club Development Officer will be employed by Foróige and will be given a contract of employment. It must be understood however, that if the position becomes redundant at any time during the period of the contract or if the funding for the post is discontinued or the post holder fails to perform satisfactorily, employment may be terminated. We are currently recruiting for 3 Youth Justice Practitioner roles (Youth Justice Worker, Early Intervention Workers and one Family Support Worker – Maternity Leave cover). Other YDP posts may become available during the course of this recruitment process. The Youth Justice Worker will engage with young people aged 12 to 17 years to reduce their level or risk of offending. The Early Intervention workers will engage with children aged 8 to 11 years to reduce their likelihood of future offending. Senior Youth Officer
ABOUT FORÓIGE Foróige is an independent, non-profit national voluntary youth organisation engaged in out-of-school youth development and education. The organisation enables young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and the development of society. Foróige employs over 500 staff and involves thousands of volunteers in the creation and delivery of high-quality services to young people through the operation of over 400 Foróige Clubs, the Big Brother Big Sister Programme and over 170 General Youth Services and Special Projects. ROLE INFORMATION This new position comes about as a result of a partnership between Kildare CYPSC, County Kildare Leader Partnership (CKLP) and Foróige. The successful candidate will be employed by Foróige as Coordinator of the Strengthening Families Programme in Kildare. This is at Senior Youth Officer Level. The programme is funded by SICAP through CKLP and Kildare CYPSC, managed by Foróige and supported by a local steering committee. The Strengthening Families Programme (SFP) is an evidence-based family skills programme which has been reviewed internationally by the Cochrane Library and proven to be twice as effective as the next best family intervention programme. SFP was originally developed for families where dependent substance use is an issue, to reduce environmental risk factors and increase protective factors with the purpose of increasing resilience in high-risk young people. The programme engages the whole family and has been proven to be effective in improving family communication and resilience. JOB TITLE: COORDINATOR (1 PART-TIME POSITION) (Senior Youth Officer) PROJECT: STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PROGRAMME, KILDARE CONTRACT TYPE: 2 Year Fixed Purpose RESPONSIBLE TO: AREA MANAGER HOURS: 21 HOURS PER WEEK ANNUAL LEAVE: 29 DAYS PER YEAR (PRO-RATED) SFP has been successfully delivered by Foróige in partnership with local stakeholders in County Kildare for 10 years, since the first programme in 2008. After a short break, we are excited to be in a position to deliver the programme again. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will be given a 2-year fixed-term contract of employment.
