Details of Service Bantry General Hospital provides acute general hospital services to the population of a unique, rural, very large geographical area encompassing West Cork and South Kerry. The hospital is a 118 bedded acute general hospital and provides, within available resources, a large range of inpatient, outpatient and day care services in response to identifying needs and in accordance with the principles of equity, people centeredness, quality and accountability. The hospital also includes a 24 bedded HIQA registered residential unit. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. SCH/SVUH Centre for Obesity Management (COM) is an accredited European Association for Study of Obesity Collaborating Centre for Obesity Management (EASO COM), and national referral centre for complex obesity and bariatric surgery, with an experienced and specialist MDT, and a track record of clinical and translational research and thesis supervision. The Fellow will gain clinical experience within the SCH/SVUH COM multi-disciplinary team, an experienced team of health professionals, including dietitians, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical social worker, clinical nurse specialist, advanced nurse practitioner, endocrinologists and bariatric surgeons. The team have established pathways of care with the respiratory/sleep disorder clinic in SVUH, and recently developed a transitional care pathway with Child & Adolescent Obesity Services in CHI.
