Purpose of the Post The primary purpose of this role is to lead the national implementation of the Managed Print Programme, ensuring successful delivery of a standardised, secure, and cost-effective Managed Print Service across the organisation. The post holder will provide senior leadership across Technology and Transformation services, with a particular focus on driving the transition to a nationally governed Managed Print operating model, aligned with organisational strategy and procurement frameworks. Principal Duties & Responsibilities include: Purpose and Programme Leadership • This post is established to lead the national Managed Print implementation programme. • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the design, delivery, and transition to a centrally hosted, redundant Managed Print infrastructure supporting the organisation nationally. • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the programme, including planning, procurement, deployment, transition, and optimisation. Managed Print Strategy, Architecture and Delivery • Lead the design and implementation of a vendor-agnostic, centrally governed Managed Print solution, integrating multiple vendors into a unified national service. • Define and implement the target operating model for Managed Print Services, including governance, standards, and service integration with End User Technology platforms. • Ensure the delivery of a highly available, resilient and secure central infrastructure, including redundancy, failover, and business continuity capabilities. • Oversee print management software, print queue architecture, authentication models, and secure print release solutions. National Deployment and Regional Engagement • Lead large-scale deployment of Managed Print Services across multiple regions and sites within a complex, distributed organisation. • Work closely with regional stakeholders, local IT teams, and service owners to plan and coordinate rollout activities. • Provide expert advice and guidance to regions on device standardisation, print optimisation, and transition planning. • Ensure consistent adoption of national standards while accommodating operational requirements. Procurement, Contract Consolidation and Vendor Integration • Lead and support public procurement activities for Managed Print Services in line with HSE and OGP requirements. • Provide expert advice and guidance to regions to reduce and consolidate legacy and fragmented print contracts in line with HSE and OGP requirements. • Manage vendor onboarding and integration into a centralised, vendor-neutral ecosystem. • Ensure all suppliers meet defined service levels, security standards, and contractual obligations. Infrastructure Management, Operations and Support • Establish and oversee operational routines for the maintenance, patching, upgrading, and support of the central Managed Print infrastructure. • Define and implement service management processes, including incident, problem, and change management. • Develop and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs), KPIs, and performance metrics for service delivery. • Ensure effective support models, including escalation pathways and integration with National Service Desk, Local IT teams and 3rd level support. Print Services Configuration and Device Integration • Oversee print driver strategy, deployment, and configuration across the estate, ensuring compatibility, security, and standardisation. • Ensure integration of Managed Print Services with endpoint management platforms (e.g. Intune) and identity services. • Standardise printer configurations, access controls, and user experience across all locations. Governance, Risk, Audit and Compliance • Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring Managed Print Services meet compliance, security, and regulatory requirements. • Develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and standards for Managed Print. • Maintain risk registers and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented. • Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, data protection, and ICT governance policies. Financial Management and Optimisation • Manage programme budgets and ensure delivery within approved financial parameters. • Drive cost optimisation initiatives, including licencing, reduction in print volumes, device rationalisation, and energy efficiency. • Provide financial reporting, forecasting, and value-for-money analysis. Stakeholder Management and Communication • Engage with senior management, clinical and operational stakeholders, and external partners. • Provide regular reporting on programme progress, risks, and outcomes. • Establish consultative forums to inform service design and continuous improvement.
