Despatch Operative
Job summary To contribute in the despatch of products ensuring hygiene and quality standards are adhered to at all times and manage all packaging in accordance with Goods In, Traceability & Stock Rotation Procedures, ensuring compliance with BRC Standards. Day To Day Activities: - 1. To ensure that every order picked has the right product, with the number of products required for that order. To inform the Despatch Team Leader of any shortages and ensure documentation matches order. 2. All products to be processed using the appropriate management system i.e. Nav & Stevens System, to control traceability. 3. To ensure that the “clean as you go” policy is implemented at all times, by all operatives. 4. To undertake all final checks, such as all orders in place and Despatch area is secure, before leaving the premises. 5. Monitor all packaging and labelling to comply with the relevant legislation. 6. To ensure safe working practices are adopted at all times in accordance with Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures and legislation. 7. To ensure the hygiene of your working areas meets the sites hygiene standards at all times. 8. Accurately and timely complete all required documentation to enable clear traceability. 9. To communicate and update all relevant parties of any issues or changes. 10. Transportation of product from one site to another 11. Loading / Off-Loading lorries Essential Criteria: Driving License Computer Literacy Effective verbal and written communication skills Problem Solving Team working Numeracy skills GCSE Maths or equivalent Grade C or above Demonstrate a high level of written and oral English Must be flexible Desirable Criteria: Fork Lift License Night Shift (10pm - Finish, normally no later than 7.00am) Job Type: Full-time Salary: From £12.50 per hour + £1 p/h Night Shift Premium
General Operative Band 3 (Rural)
The Office of Public Works (OPW) invites applications for the appointment to the position of seasonal General Operative Band 3 (Rural) at the Athenry National Monuments District. The position will be based at Poulnabrone Dolmen, Co. Clare. The position, is a Non-Established State Industrial post based on a 39-hour week (full-time) rostered 5 days over 7. (Monday to Sunday) and appointments will be subject to a probationary period of 7 months which may be extended to 10 months under certain circumstances. Continuation in employment in the position, following the end of the Probation Period, will be dependent upon the appointee fully meeting the requirements of the positions during the Probation Period. The actual hours of attendance are determined by local management requirements. This is an OPW recruitment competition to which applicants with the minimum eligibility requirements may apply. Persons who wish to be considered for appointment to the above position should submit a completed application form, and copies of specified required documentation. A short-listing assessment, on the basis of the information supplied on the Application Form, will be used by OPW to select those applicants who are to be invited to attend for competitive interview. The competitive interview process, will be used by OPW to select the candidates determined by the Interview Board as being suitable for appointment to fill the position and a reserve panel, effective for a limited period, may be formed to fill any future sanctioned positions that may arise in Athenry National Monuments District. Any existing reserve panels will take precedence until they are either expired or exhausted. Appointment to the position will be subject to the provision of satisfactory references and meeting requirements for satisfactory health and vetting. Placement on the panel does not guarantee nor imply that an offer of employment will be made to those placed on same. In the event that an offer of an appointment is made, it will be made in the order of merit of those on the panel regardless of the length of contract period offered and the specific area in which the position would be based. Appointments to approved positions of employment are made as and when considered appropriate by OPW management and will be subject to the candidate meeting the OPW’s requirements with regard to health, references and Garda vetting. In the event that the candidate does not satisfactorily meet the OPW’s requirements with regard to health, references and Garda vetting, the candidate will receive no further consideration under the competition and will not proceed to appointment. OPW Areas of Responsibility The OPW’s areas of responsibility include Heritage Services and Flood Risk Management. The OPW’s Heritage Services has responsibility for the protection, care and maintenance of 780 heritage sites, nationwide, including national monuments, historical parks, gardens and buildings. Collective Agreement: Redundancy Payments to Public Servants Age On the closing date for receipt of applications for this position, the following are the eligibility requirements with regard to age; - the minimum age requirement for potential applicants is 18; - the appointee will be a member of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme, as defined in the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012. Under the Scheme, retirement is compulsory on reaching 70 years of age. Outside Employment The position is whole-time and the appointee may not at any time engage in, or be connected with, any outside business or activity which would in any way conflict with the interests of the OPW, or be inconsistent with their official positions, or tend to impair their ability to carry out their duties. For this reason, an appointee who intends to be engaged in or connected with any outside business or employment should inform the OPW HR Management (Operational) Section of such an intention. Ill-Health Retirement For an individual who has retired from a Civil/Public service body on the grounds of ill-health his/her pension from that employment may be subject to review in accordance with the rules of ill-health retirement within the pension scheme of that employment. Health Before being accepted as suitable for appointment, the appointee must satisfy certain criteria including suitability in respect of health. The onus is on the appointee to declare their suitability, to the best of their knowledge and belief, regarding their health status, and in this regard, the appointee will be asked to complete a health self-declaration statement. Please note that any misstatements, incomplete statements and/or false declarations are liable to disqualify the appointee from the competition and/or result in the summary termination of their appointment to/employment in the position. Security Clearance Garda vetting may be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for appointment. The proposed appointee may be required to complete and return a Garda Vetting form, which will be forwarded to An Garda Síochána for security checks to be undertaken. Enquiries may also be made with the police force of any country in which the proposed appointee resided. Persons selected for appointment under this competition may receive offers of appointment, the commencement and continuation of which would be subject to satisfactory Garda Vetting of the proposed appointees. Pay The General Operative Band 3 (Rural) weekly pay scale for the position, as and from 1st March 2025 is as follows: €656.12 - €798.93 per week
