A transformation in both systemic and behavioural aspects extending across within industries and communities to instil social and economic responses. Design for Climate Action seeks to awaken both current and future leaders, instigating a behavioural shift aligned with the pressing need for climate action. Design for Climate Action imagines real positive and impactful change to generate dynamic and creative concepts to address complex environmental and social challenges as a result of climate change. This course looks to equip emerging leaders with an awareness and understanding of climate change issues and the urgency for meaningful action, while also providing the design tools, methods and platforms to influence behavioural, personal, professional and sectoral change. Fostering a culture that not only embraces but also promotes agency and a shared community-ethos that substantively transforms perspective and behaviour towards climate action and responsibility. The Certificate in Design for Climate Action engages in a structured, experiential learning through thematic Design Research labs. Learners will undertake a topical, thematic design project with colleagues and creative peers, developed through teamwork, negotiation and collaboration, which leads them to an understanding of how they might shape sustainable collaboration cultures. Each module may include one or two high-profile guest speakers, but we expect that a lead tutor or team of tutors will teach and coordinate the majority of the content. The NCAD / CFA Academic Development Group will provide a series of templates which will provide different possible learning formats (such as an intensive one or two week workshop, two day symposium or a weekly 3 hour class etc).
