The Role We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Occupational Therapist for a Specific Purpose Contract to join our dedicated and collaborative team, providing exceptional care to specialist palliative care patients. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, you will deliver holistic physiotherapy services that address the complex physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of our patients. The Senior Occupational Therapist will work in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager in ensuring the coordination, development and delivery of a quality, client-centred Occupational Therapy Service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high standard Occupational Therapy service in the Specialist Palliative Care Service and will carry out clinical and educational duties as assigned by the Occupational Therapist Manager. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Established in 2010, St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network operates from three Dublin locations – St Luke’s Hospital and St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centres in St James’s and Beaumont Hospitals and is part of the Dublin and Midlands Group. SLRON’s main role is delivery of radiotherapy treatment for patients with cancer. Multidisciplinary teams consist of medical, nursing, radiation therapists, physicists, health and social care professionals, management and general support staff providing a pivotal role in the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of these services within the hospital. SLRON is dedicated to being a world class leader in cancer treatment, patient care, research and education. In striving for this excellence, the holistic needs of our patients and their families are our greatest focus. The Patient Support Worker will be a central point of contact for cancer patients whilst working alongside the clinical nurse specialist team to improve patient care and communication. The Patient Support Worker will be patient facing pivotal in ensuring both personalised stratified follow up and supported self-management services are in place for the care of cancer patients, in conjunction with consultants, clinical nurse specialists and all other staff involved in the cancer care pathway. The post holder will also collaborate and liaise with the NCCP on strategic goals including those set out in the National Cancer Strategy 2017-2026, through working groups and other approaches to implementation.
