This post is located in the Pathology laboratory in Cork University Hospital (CUH) which is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland; it is the only level 1 trauma centre in the Republic of Ireland and is one of the country’s eight regional cancer units. The Laboratory provides analysis of patient specimens for inpatient, outpatient and community patients. It also provides some referral services for specialised testing for other laboratories in the organisational area. The service has been awarded ISO15189:2012 accreditation. It operates a Quality Management System that conforms to this standard. The vast scope of Pathology to include Histodissection, Cytopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Molecular Pathology and Perinatal pathology offers huge opportunities for advancement into specialised roles.
