Fellowship In Paediatric Anaesthesiology And Critical Care Medicine, July

Childrens Health IrelandDublin

Children’s Health Ireland Fellowship Program in Paediatric Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Commencing July 2025, we are excited to offer a comprehensive 12-month Fellowship program in paediatric anaesthesiology and critical care medicine. About Us: Our patient caseload is high in both volume and complexity, with over 10,000 general anaesthetics administered annually in our department. Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) currently provides quaternary level paediatric care at 3 main specialist sites; Tallaght hospital, CHI Crumlin and CHI Temple Street. It is expected that in 2025, these historic hospitals sites will amalgamate into the New Children’s Hospital, one of the largest healthcare investments ever to take place in the State. This will provide a much anticipated, unique and exciting learning opportunity as 3 different hospitals unite under one roof. The transition period will provide many challenges and will be an opportunity to learn about teamwork as we join together, not to mention the logistical challenges of transporting patients of all ages and sizes across a bustling city, when the doors are opened for the first time. Clinical Excellence: At Children’s Health Ireland (CHI), our commitment to clinical excellence and delivering world-class service to our patients and their families is central to our core ethos. Fellows in our program will engage with a high-level caseload that includes quaternary level surgical procedures including specialties, such as cardiothoracic (including approximately 500 bypass cases per year), neonatal, complex spinal, and oncological surgery. The amalgamation of facilities will consolidate additional quaternary surgical procedures, including neurosurgery, craniofacial surgery, and renal transplant surgery, into one comprehensive location. We have a busy surgical day unit to assist us in providing our ambulatory surgery care and are assisted by a comprehensive Pre-assessment Clinic to allow for a smooth journey for these patients. Our fellows will be provided with an opportunity to participate in our Acute Pain Service to follow the patient post-operatively and provide an holistic view of the patients journey. We have a Chronic Pain Clinic, specialising in the assessment and management of complex and chronic pain children, engaging with a multidisciplinary approach. We work closely with our PICU colleagues and there is opportunity to spend time with the Irish Paediatric Transport Service (IPATS) service, participating in the retrieval of critically ill children around the country. In addition we have a busy Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) service and will provide in house training and experience in managing infants and children on ECLS in the operating room and in Critical Care. Essential Criteria for Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellow: Application Process: Applications for the above posts must be submitted via the career page https://childrens-health-ireland.rezoomo.com/jobs/ . Applicants should submit an up-to-date CV and cover letter to the Fellowship Leads, Dr. Yvonne Doyle (yvonne.doyle@childrenshealthireland.ie) or Dr. Andras Kelecsenyi (Andras.kelecsenyi@childrenshealthireland.ie), via email, at least 12 months before the anticipated start date.
