INITIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Co-ordinate and implement the School Completion Programme plan as drawn up with the Local Management Committee in line with the agreed budget. ·Report and work under the direction of the School Completion Programme Local Management Committee in relation to all aspects of the project ·Provide direct support to the targeted young people as required. ·Organise and facilitate the provision of in-school, out-of-school, after school and holiday time supports for the targeted young people · Establish and maintain strong links with all relevant agencies ·Ensure the active participation of the other relevant partners ·Provide regular professional supervision to the Project Workers ensuring a high quality of work. ·Participate in training organised through TESS. ·Monitor and evaluate the quality of the programme through completing an Annual Report and Retention Plan to be submitted to TESS. ·Keep a comprehensive report and descriptions of all aspects of the Programme recording successes, failures and changes ·Identify and facilitate, in consultation with the School Completion Programme Local Management Committee, the provision of relevant in-service training for SCP Project Workers. ·Complete quarterly financial returns and annual Financial Compliance Reports to TESS. ·Co-operate with the Department of Education and TESS in relation to the evaluation and audit of the Programme and the collection of data and furnishing of reports required on a timely basis. PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Education Candidates must hold, as a minimum, a QQI level 8 Qualification in Youth Work, Education or other related discipline relevant to the role. Driving Licence Full clean valid driver’s licence and access to a car is essential. Remuneration: €46,664 - €76,291 (including 2 Long Service Increments)IMPORTANT NOITCE RE: SALARY: As per DES guidelines, new appointees who are entering this grade for the first time will start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit may only apply, if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is already a serving Civil or Public Servant. Rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Starting Salary is not subject to negotiation Hours of work: A 35-hour week is in operation. Hours may be adjusted from time to time under relevant Public Sector Agreements. The SCP Coordinator role is a full time post and requires flexibility in working hours over the whole year i.e. 52 weeks to provide the appropriate programmes for children and young people in school, after school, during school holiday periods and in the out of school setting. Annual leave: The Annual Leave entitlement for this post is 26 days. Permanent Guidance Information Officer
Responsibilities: 1. To support the development of the Guidance, Information and Recruitment Service throughout GRETB as well as the establishment of GRETB Admission Unit. 2. Develop and maintain an up to date paper based and computer based systems in respect of clients, groups and information resources. 3. Develop, implement and maintain an effective and user-friendly information service which supports the aims and objectives of the Guidance, Information and Recruitment Service. 4.Contribute to and organise events, marketing activities, and promotional materials which promote GRETB and the Guidance, Information and Recruitment Service to clients, groups and other agencies. 5.Contribute, as appropriate, to the on-going development and maintenance of the service. This position requires Candidates to possess the following: · Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise. Certificate in Adult Guidance would be advantageous. ·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience of working with hard-to-reach target categories and groups. ·Excellent organisational, administrative, time management, report writing and ICT skills. ·Ability to work as a member of team and on own initiative. · Ability to operate flexibly in a range of tasks. ·Experience in adult/further education and training and knowledge of learning, training and employment opportunities and the range of services/support available to the client target groups is desirable. ·The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders. · Ability to maintain effective client records and operate within boundaries of confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations. · Capacity to discharge the duties of the post effectively through the medium of Irish would be an advantage. ·Full driving licence and access to a car. The post-holder will report to the Adult Guidance Coordinator/Counsellor/Senior Manager. ·To develop and deliver a programme of guidance provision to individuals and groups which supports the aims and objectives of the GRETB Adult Guidance and Information Service, under the direction of the Adult Guidance Coordinator/Counsellor or Chief Executive/Director of FET/AEO or Senior Manager. ·To establish effective links with relevant agencies from the statutory, voluntary and community sectors to exchange information, develop partnership working and support client progression. ·To contribute to the development and implementation of a quality and evaluation framework and to the strategic development of the Service. ·To participate in appropriate continuous professional development and training as agreed with Guidance Coordinator/Counsellor/ Senior Manager. Attendance outside of normal hours will be by prior agreement with the Adult Guidance Coordinator/CE/Director of FET/AEO of the ETB and will be offset against normal hours’ attendance. Annual Leave Guidance Counsellors shall have 35 days annual leave, excluding public holidays. Annual leave shall be taken in accordance with the needs of the GRETB Adult Guidance and Information Service and will be determined by Adult Guidance Coordinator/CE/Director of FET/AEO / Senior Manager of the ETB. Community Link Worker (Traveler and Roma Education Strategy)
Job Title: Community Link Worker(Traveller and Roma Education Strategy) Nature of Position: 18 Month Fixed Term Position, 35 hours per week Place of Work: Tuam, Co. Galway Salary Scale: €38,385 gross p.a. Employer: Successful candidates will be employed through the Tuam School Completion Programme (SCP). The responsibilities of the Community Link Worker will include but are not limited to the following: · Building trusting relationships with Traveller and/or Roma children, young people, families, organisations and communities. · Working in partnership with key stakeholders including the whole school community, local Traveller and /or Roma organisations and community workers, including those under education or related disciplines, to identify local needs and provide linkages to available supports and initiatives. ·Supporting children, young people and their families at key transition points e.g. moving from early years to primary, from primary to post-primary and between years moving from Junior cycle to Senior cycle with a specific focus on increasing retention to Leaving Certificate and transition to further education, training and employment opportunities. · Working with the integrated services operating under TESS which includes SCP, HSCLs, EWOs, at a local level to achieve progress on local education concerns and the priority education actions contained in the TRES which includes improved participation and retention in school. · Promoting and supporting positive participation, communication and engagement between home, school and the community to enhance attendance, participation and engagement, retention, progression and educational outcomes for children and young people. ·Monitoring school attendance and other relevant indicators and engaging with the appropriate supports to plan for improved attendance. ·Increasing awareness amongst the communities of the rights and obligations of parents/guardians and schools. ·Supporting schools and communities to foster an inclusive and ambitious culture with an anti-racism and intercultural approach in and out of school through initiatives that have been successful in the STAR Pilot project. · Providing feedback and input to team meetings and evaluations, preparing progress reports for the SCP Coordinator and TESS TRES team which feed into the overall reporting on TRES progress and objectives including improving access, participation and outcomes. ·Following policies and procedures prescribed by the employing SCP in relation to child safeguarding and other matters. ·Participating in continuous professional development and training as required for the role Professional Qualifications and Experience ·Minimum of three years direct work experience with Travellers and/or Roma in an education or youth setting or a relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Work, Education, Social Care, Psychology or a related field (QQI Level 7 minimum). ·Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening), with the ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds. ·Good knowledge of the Irish education system and understanding of working within a school environment with a proven interest in youth work or community development. ·Experience of working with Travellers and/or Roma with a good knowledge of the issues and concerns faced by these communities. ·Second relevant language beneficial e.g. Romani, Czech. ·Ability to work at an individual, team and community level including across a multi-disciplinary setting. ·Good computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
