Hold or be in the process of undertaking a minimum of QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or a minimum of QQI Level 6 Social Care or a Nursing qualification. Have experience in supporting people with disabilities. Candidates who have experience and no qualifications may be hired if they are willing to undertake and complete QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support within 18 months of the commencement of their role. Hold or be working towards gaining a Full Manual Driving license and willingness to drive for work. The role requires availability to work all shifts across a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week roster (24-7 service including every second weekend). Job Title and Grade: Candidate Advanced Nurse Practitioner (cANP) Endoscopy Bowel Screen or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Endoscopy Bowel Screen Grade Code 2267/2272 Location of Post: Sligo University Hospital (Ospidéal Ollscoile Shligigh) Sligo University Hospital (SUH) has a stand-alone Endoscopy Unit. It is located on the fourth floor of SUH and compromises of an admission/discharge/consultation room, 2 patient preparation rooms pre-procedure, 2 procedure rooms, 8 bedded recovery area, step down area post procedures, waiting area and offices. Decontamination facilities for endoscopes are on site within the endoscopy unit. The Endoscopy Unit at SUH is an accredited unit by the UK based Joint Advisory Group (JAG) and also has been an accredited National Bowel Screen Centre since 2012. The unit provides both an inpatient and outpatient service to patients undergoing Endoscopy procedures including colonoscopy, gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, EBUS, trans oesophageal echo (TOE) and a range of endoscopic interventions. There are currently 8 scheduled GI sessions per week, 2 bronchoscopy sessions and 1 BowelScreen list with the National Screening Service (NSS). There are currently, 2 CNM2’s, a Bowel Screen/ Pre assessment CNM2, Surgical pre assessment CNM2, Triage CNM2, Validation CNM2 and 1 RANP Gastroenterology/BowelScreen (Nurse Endoscopist) The unit has dedicated decontamination personnel. There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available for one permanent ANP post or one cANP. If a cANP is appointed they will be expected to progress to ANP and performing colonoscopy procedures independently within two years or who are eligible to register with NMBI in Gastroenterology. The successful candidate may be required to work in any BowelScreen service area within the HSE West North West as the service need arises.
